there is noDPF in the enginebay. Thehigh
performance 409 in turnhas a 55kW (74hp)
Kohler engine.
Anew featureon all the loaders is a
redesigned rear chassis that allows towing
equipment tobe installedor for theuse
of rear-mounted implements. The 407
is availablewith anoptional high speed
transmission tohelpwith this. Customers
can also specify a 100%differential lock in
the front axle formaximum tractionwhen
digging and inpoor site conditions.

Emission free working
AWacker Neuson 1 tonne 803 dual power mini excavator is being used by German
contractor LeonardWeiss on the renovation work the contractor is carrying out on the
35 year old Kocher Viaduct near Hellbron, with themachine purchased specifically for
the contract. At 185m (607 ft), this is the highest bridge in the country and is used by
55,000 vehicles daily. The bridge was designed as a prestressed concrete box girder
structure and demolition is being carried out inside the box girder of the 1,128m (3,700
ft) long bridge during the course of the rehabilitation work.
With the dual power option, the 803 can – in addition to the standard diesel engine –
be connected to an HPU8 external electro-hydraulic power unit that operates themachine
electrically and totally emission-free. The dual power optionmeets all requirements for
conventional compact diesel excavators, but in a fewminutes can be converted to a
unit for emission-free work if necessary – without losing
any machine performance or application flexibility. For
customers, thismeans greater machine utilisation andmore
application areas for themini-excavator.
“A powerful machine with compact dimensions was
needed for the demolition application on the Kocher viaduct.
We needed amachine that could also work in confined
spaces and in particular be operated without exhaust gas
emissions,” said Hartmut Bagg, project manager at Leonard
Weiss as he explained the requirements. “The dual power
option was convincing in application.”

maintenance and enhance track life.
Standard tracks are 1m (3.3 ft)wide, with
optional 0.9m (3 ft) narrow tracks. To
maximiseuptime, the SK850 features a
belt-freedesign and low-maintenance track-
tensioning system.
