Bobcats
Bobcat will use the 2015 Executive Hire
Show that is being held in Coventry, UK,
on February 11 and 12, 2015, to show
its new 1 to 2 tonnemini-excavator
range publically for the first time in the
UK. The range will consist of the 1.7
tonne E17, 1.9 tonne E19 and 2 tonne
E20models that all can be transported
on trailers up to 2,000 kg (4,400 lb).
The newmachines will feature an
expanding undercarriage, automatic
slew brakes and what the company
says is advanced diagnostics and
instrumentation. According to Bobcat,
these new high performance excavators
provide an unmatched combination of
class-leading breakout forces, working
range, smoothness, hydraulic output and
fast cycle times. The new cab design on
the excavators features large windows
and narrow pillars tomaximise all-around
visibility.
The new E20 2 tonnemodel is a Zero
Housing Swing (ZHS) excavator, which
means that despite featuring a full-sized
cab, it still enhances Zero Tail Swing
(ZTS) functionality by further protecting
the front upper structure corners
turning within the swing circle. The
ZHS configuration in the E20 excavator
therefore provides 320° of free rotation
when working close to structures without
sacrificing on operator comfort or
performance.
Case sister-companyNewHolland
Construction’s 200Series now includes three
Tier 4Final compliantmodels, including the
newL216 skid steer loader, and fuel-efficient
Tier 4 Interim engine configurations.
Thenext generationofNewHolland skid
steer and compact track loaders have the same
compact dimensions as thepreviousmodels,
while claiming todelivermorepower and
torque thanbefore.
Thenew radial-lift Tier 4Final L216 skid
steer loader offers best-in-class peak torque,
claimsNewHolland, while theupgraded
large-frame line-up is said todelivermore
performance in a fuel-efficient, compact
design.
The twomid-sizemodels of theNew
HollandConstruction skid steer loader range
meet Tier 4Final standardswith adiesel
oxidation catalyst-only solution that claims
benefits in fuel saving, performance and
maintenance convenience.
TheL220model gets tougherwith a
four-cylinder, turbocharged49kW (65.7hp)
engine thatNewHolland saiddelivers a 12%
increaseof horsepower. It is tuned for a 22%
boost inpeak torque to208Nm and a rated
operating capacityof 905kg (1,991 lb).
TheL218 and theL220 skid steer loaders
incorporate thehighpressure common rail
(HPCR) injectiondesign thatNewHolland
saidwas typicallyused in larger construction
equipment. The company says that theHPCR
ensuredhigh injectionprecision and allowed
higher torqueoutput andmoreuseful power
from everydropof fuel.
TheNewHollandmid-frame line-up
includes theC227 compact track loader that is
poweredby a 54kW (72.4hp) turbocharged
FPT Industrial engine complyingwithTier 4
Interim emission standards, a ratedoperating
capacityof 1,225kg (2,695 lb) and abucket
breakout forceof 32.3kN.
TheNewHollandL213 radial-liftmodel
develops a 10% torque rise–up to143Nm–
and it has new loader arm stops that allow the
loader arm to leandirectly into the chassis for
superior digging andpushing strength.
In thehigh-end segment, theL230 skid
steer loader and theC238 compact track
loader now fullymeet theTier 4 Interim
regulationswith thenew turbocharged66kW
(88.5hp) enginedesignedby another sister-
company, FPT Industrial.
The 3.4 litre engine claims todeliver torque
of 383Nm at a low engine speedof only1,400
rpm, with a 13% increase inpushingpower.
GOING COMPACT
JCBhas added threenewmodels in its
compactwheeled loader rangewith the 406
described as an entry levelmodel. Its 36kW
(48.3hp) enginemeans it is of a low enough
power level tobe exempt fromStage IV
exhaust emission laws and this helps tokeep
thepricedown.
Meanwhile the all-new407offers a similar
payload capacity just above 4 tonnes, butwith
a 48kW (64.4hp)water-cooled electronically
controlled engine fromKohler. Again,
