of abigger loaderwith the versatility and
agilityof a smallermachine. The 760i’sKohler
KDI 42kW/225Nmdiesel engine complies
withTier 4Final emission regulations,
achieving compliancewithout theneed for
adiesel particulate filter (DPF) or diesel
exhaust fluid (DEF).
JaniKäkelä, vicepresident for sales
andmarketing, said, “The environmental
friendliness of this loader is not limited to its
consumption.Wehave alsopaid attention to
thenoiseof the loader. Themodern engine
of theAvant 760i is inherentlymuchquieter.
In addition, the engineheats less, which
also reduces thenoiseof the ventilator. An
important factor is also the fact that the
engine reaches full torque at very low speed so
it is possible towork at almost idle. Low level
of noise is abig advantage for earlymorning
tasks.”
He added, “Kohler has invested a large
amount ofmoney into thedevelopment of this
new engine. For our part, wehavebuilt our
own, well-functioningproduct around this
innovation.”
ADDINGUPDATES
CaseConstructionEquipment has updated its
skid steer loader and compact tracked loader
ranges tooffermore engine andhydraulic
power. There are 10 compactmodels – seven
skid steers and three tracked loaders – that are
said todeliver improved efficiency through
theuseof environmentally-friendlyTier 4
engine solutions, providing customerswith
increasedpower and torque and reduced
operating costs.
Case is offering anupgraded small-frame
model, the SR160, to replace the SR150, which
is oneof the company’s best-sellers. The
newmodel has a larger and cleaner engine
claimingup to15%morepower.
The smallest, the SR130, is nowpowered
by a 2.2-litre 36kW (48.3hp)Tier 4 Interim
engine that uses internal cooled exhaust gas
recirculation (CEGR)without theneedof
additional particulate filters.
Themid-range SV185 andSR175
skid steers arepoweredbyTier 4Final
engines. Case said that through theuseof a
turbocharger andhigh-powered common rail
fuel injectionwith electronic control, there
was no requirement for regenerationon these
engines. Amaintenance-freediesel oxidation
catalyst (DOC) system enables compliance
with stringent regulations.
Two new

compacts
Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment
America has introduced two new compact
excavators to the North Americanmarket
in the shape of the Tier 4 Final 6.3
tonne DX63-3 compact conventional tail
swingmodel and the 8.5 tonne DX85R-
3 reduced tail swing unit. Offeringmore
muscle than its predecessor, the DX63-
3’s power has been increased by 13.5%
to 44.3 kW (59.4 hp) tomatch the
DX85R-3.
Compared to the previous DX60R,
the DX63-3’s upper-structure is shifted
rearward on the undercarriage to increase
efficiency and Doosan claims its 29.5
cm (11.6 inch) of tail swing overhang
provides best-in-class over-the-side lifting
performance without increasing the
machine’s overall weight. This additional
tail swing also improves the DX63-3’s slew
performance when working on side slopes.
It is engineered to dig to depths of 4.2m
(13.5 ft) and its hydraulic system delivers exceptional loaded cycle times.
In contrast, the DX85R-3’sminimal 14.5 cm (5.8 inch) of tail overhang allows it to
work in congested environments and tight spaces next to buildings or other obstructions
and dig to depths of 4.8m (15.5 inch). The DX85R-3’s bucket force has increased by
18% over its predecessor for improved productivity when excavating or trenching.
Similarly the SR200 andTR270machines
that use a 54kW (72.5hp) turbocharged
engine canmeet Tier 4 Interimwithout
regeneration. Themost powerful SR250,
SV300, TR320 andTV380models all use a
66kW (88.5hp) turbocharged enginewith
multiple injectionhighpressure common rail,
plus an electronically controlledwastegate
that is said todeliver superior pressure
stabilitywithin the turbocharger.
Case says that the SR160was a typical
exampleof the improvements that hadbeen
made to the range, offering customers 15%
morepower, 27%more torque and a 19%
increase inhydraulic flow compared to the
previous similarly sizedSR150.
