mail, list rental, exhibitions, conferences and
contract publishing. Access, Lift & Handlers is
the magazine for the access lift and handlers
industry.
Cargotec USA Inc. (N1038)
will showcase
HIAB truck-mounted articulated cranes and
Moffett truck-mounted forklifts. The Moffett can
drop off loaded cable reels and pick up empty
ones, as well as deliver transformers directly
to construction sites (or emergency callout
locations) and placing them directly on the pad
in advance of installation crews.
SMF/Aero Lift (L351)
is showing a new
vertical insulated telescoping work platform.
The unit features a 40-foot telescopic aerial
with a 10-foot telescoping pedestal that’s also
insulated.
LinePro Equipment Ltd. (4049)
is debuting
its Barehand-500HA insulated work platform.
The new Barehand-500HA insulated jib allows
bare-hand work up to 500kV and 200 feet plus
working height. The jib converts an existing
boom truck into an insulated aerial device for a
fraction of the cost, the company says, without
compromising on features or safety. The jib has
210-degree remote-controlled articulation, self-
leveling aluminum platform with 800 pounds of
capacity and self-stows under back-of-cab or
rear-mounted cranes for transport. This product
meets ANSI, CSA, IEC and CCC.
PM North America (L455)
is showing its
Octopussy 1800 Evo aerial work platform that
is installed on a self-propelling tracked vehicle,
designed for aerial access and work at a height
where a wheeled vehicle cannot be used. Aerial
structure consists of a double pantograph plus
operating arm with jib. Operators’ platform
is made entirely of aluminum and provides
operators with easy access. The unit features
hydraulic controls, with a dual position on
both the platform and on the turret. Maximum
operating height is 59 feet while maximum
operating outreach is 27 feet, 10 inches. The
unit features a maximum capacity of 440
pounds or two people.
The International Powered Access Federation
(3163)
plans to present four items at this
year's ICUEE event: The AWP for Managers
course – Redeveloped course was introduced
this year to offer employers and supervisors of
AWP operators the regulations and standards,
responsibilities of employers and safe use
practices; Industry Best Practices introduced
earlier this year on developing a risk assessment
for safe use of AWPs; its new eLearning
operator training course that allows trainees to
take the theory/classroom portion of operator
training anytime there is access to the internet
and allows them to take the training at their
pace – all eith sections in 2.5 hours or section
by section over 30 days. When successfully
complete, students arrange with a training
center to complete their hands on evaluation of
AWP operational proficiency and safe use; and,
lastly, Spanish versions of IPAF’s AWP operator
training courses.
Socage (N2048)
will debut its TJJ230 Forste
model. The unit has a 224-foot maximum
platform height and 120 feet of side reach. Total
platform capacity is 1,325 pounds.
Terex (L316)
was mum on what exactly
would be shown at ICUEE, but we do know the
aerial work platform, boom lift and telehandler
company will have a range of its products on
display, including aerial devices, digger derricks,
utility-related products and two AWPs from
Genie.
“We certainly hope these positive ICUEE
trends reflect a more sustained construction
industry recovery. AEM and many other
industry groups are working hard to get beyond
government gridlock, for our legislators to
make much needed investment in our country’s
utility and other infrastructure,” says Dennis
Slater, president of Association of Equipment
Manufacturers (AEM), owner and producer of
ICUEE.
