n the 12 months that have passed since

, the top 20 rental
companies have expanded fleets by 9.95
percent total. Looking back at total equipment
numbers per year, 2013’s total number has
surpassed 2008’s by more than 20,000 aerials.
As manufacturers in North America report
better-than-ever sales and financial results,
it’s clear to see rental has stepped out of the
refleeting phase and into the growth segment.
At the top of the A
20
is rental giant United
Rentals. With 107,341 aerials in its fleet, it
remains the leader of the pack by more than
67,000 units over our second place company,
Sunbelt Rentals. While the 107,341 number is
staggering, United still only makes up roughly 15
percent of the U.S. access rental market. That
said, the 5.41 percent increase in its fleet from
