ESTA, theEuropean
AssociationofAbnormal Road
Transport andMobileCranes,
has seen the event develop
steadily in recent years. Today
it regularly attracts topquality
entries frommany companies
andprojects - but ESTA
wants to ensure that as far as
possible the event reflects the
whole industry and is calling
companies of all sizes to enter
and come along.
ThenextUsers’Night
andAwards is onThursday
23April inParis, during the
Intermat exhibition. The
deadline for entries is 17
January.Winners in2014
includedFagioli from Italy;
Mammoet, Sarens and
WagenborgNedlift from the
Netherlands; Liebherr from
Germany;NordicCrane
Stangeland fromNorway;
Michielsens fromBelgium;
andCollett andALE from the
UK. Entries are assessedby a
juryof independent industry
experts. Before thedinner, a
list of finalists is announced
with the overall winners
revealedon thenight.

The evening regularly

TheReutlingen firebrigadedepartment inGermany has takendelivery
of aLiebherr LTM 10704.2mobile crane. TheLTM 10704.2hasbeen
fittedwith fire serviceequipment, includinganextra cablewinchand
fire-fightingequipment. The cranealsohas theVarioBase variable
outrigger system, off-road capability, all-wheel driveandactive
rear axle steering. It has a50metreboomand can travel with its
counterweight andadditional equipment, while remainingwithin thea
12 tonneaxle load limit onpublic roads, themanufacturer said.
HaraldHermann, commander of ReutlingenBrigadeService,
said, “Themodernmachine isneededby the firebrigade tomeet the
increased requirements for technical rescues.”
TheAssociation of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) in theUSAhas
released a new crane safety video and revised crane safetymanual.
Both the video and themanual are aimed to providemachine
operatorswith anupdate on best practices and standards, including
OSHA 1926:1400 crane standard requirements.
Crane industry expertsworking throughAEM’s Crane Technical
Committee (CTC) provided content development and review, while
certified trainers from the International Union of OperatingEngineers
(IUOE) demonstrated best practices in theDVD-video, a spokesperson
said. The video andmanual, available online through theAEMStore,
outline tips onhow to avoid accidents and create a safe construction
site, preparation of themachine for operation andways to reduce
repair costs.

unit on show at BaumaChina
was sold toTatHong. A larger
luffing jibmodel is undergoing
testing at theYongmao factory.
