Making inspections
Tohelponlinebidders, auctioneersoffer
inspection services. RitchieBros, for
example, offers inspections, as Jacobo
Garcia explains, “Our equipment inspectors
inour yardhave a checklistwhere they
can check the structure, the engine,
transmission, etc. For cranes especially,
people can see it online and thenarrange to
goand inspect it. It’s important forbuyers
tobe able topersonally inspect items
they’re interested in, or get them inspected
by thirdparty specialists.”
RitchieBros alsoprovides customers
with services fromRitchieBrosLogistics,
wherebuyers can receivequotations
for transport. “We alsohave some local
suppliers that canhelpbuyersdismantle
the cranes andprovide transport,” Jacobo
Garciaadds. “Normally, for the larger
cranes,wehave thequotationsbefore the
sale so thebuyers know exactlywhatwill be
the cost after theybuy the crane.”
