he 2015 Specialized Transportation
Symposium (STS) offers up an
unmatched chance for SC&RA
members around the world to interact
with the industry’s leading executives,
researchers, manufacturers, and
transportation officials from 3 to 6March,
inAtlanta,Georgia,USA.
As early spring temperatures descend
on the American South, the industry’s
top state and federal permitting officials,

professionals, and operationsmanagerswill
gather at the Atlanta Marriot Marquis in
downtownAtlanta.
The Exhibit Center will include 40
booths this year and attendance is expected
to exceed last year’s impressive count of
TheMarchsymposium
by Dave Osiecki of American Trucking
Associations. His session,
Industry Update
from DC
, will provide the latest insights,
analysis, and forecasts on the most
important legislative and regulatory issues
facing the transportation industry from a
leading industry expert.
A state permitting official, a software
vendor, and a permit service provider
follow the opening session, providing a
unique perspective on how to take
advantage of the latest trends and best
practices for improving efficiencies
in permitting, while enhancing the
productivity of communications with
state permit officials. Tina Sanders, of the
Maryland State Highway Administration;
MikeWebb, of ProMiles; andLouis Juneau,

interaction with other members and
Symposium events easier to track than
ever with the new SC&RA meeting app,
available for attendees in early February.
Officially launched in September with
great success at the 2014 Crane & Rigging
Workshop in Dallas, Texas, USA, this
meeting app will be used during all future
meetings. Features include attendee
search, messaging, ability to create your
own schedule and notes, surveys and polls,
maps, and even an exhibit centre booth
layout. The new app is especially effective
for international members looking to
quickly and efficiently move throughout
the symposiumandnetworkaccordingly.
The pre-symposium activities begin on
Tuesday 3 March, allowing all members
to attend meetings of state and regional
permit officials and the SC&RA Pilot Car
Task Force throughout the day. The three
committee meetings (state and regional,
transportation safety education and
training, and permit policy), which begin
Wednesday, represent the ultimate value
for SC&RAmembers. They stand as key
opportunities for members to network,
experience up-to-the-minute information
concerning all state and safety issues, as
well as make their voices heard on any
mattersof interest.
