Bobcat has introduced a new high
performance loader in the shape
of the 2.8 tonne, 45.5 kW (61 hp)
T450. According to the company, the
newmachine fills the gap between
its T100 and T590machines once
occupied by the no-longer produced
T140. The newmachine offers 25%
greater power than the T140 and
features hydraulic and hydrostatic
efficiency improvements that Bobcat
says result in significantly improved
productivity. The T450 uses a Bobcat

IIIB emission requirements using

A surveyby theAssociated
GeneralContractors ofAmerica
(AGC) has found80%of its
member companies plan to
increase staff numbers this
year.Only7%plan to reduce
headcount,with the remainder
expecting to stay the same size.
“Contractors are extremely
optimistic about theoutlook for
2015,” saidAGC chief executive
StephenE. Sandherr.
“Indeed, if their
predictions prove
true, industry
employment could
expand this year by
themost in adecade.”
Mr Sandherr
noted that thenumber of
contractors planning to add
employees –80%– in2015, is
significantlyhigher than in2014,
whenonly57% reported they
would add to theirheadcount.
However,many that plan tohire
this year expect tomakeonly
modest increases,with90%of the
firms that expect to add employees
saying theywill expandbyone-
quarter or less this year.

dependent on federal funding such
aswater and sewer construction.
However, theAGC said this

problems. The association’s chief
economistKenSimonson said,
“Despite theoverall optimism,
some challenges remain for
the industry. Inparticular, as
construction firms continue to
expand, theywill continue tohave
adifficult time finding enough
skilled constructionworkers.”
