Othermanufacturers took the
opportunity to introduce new
machines to theNorthAmerican
market at the exhibition. For its
part, Liebherr showcased its truck
mounted concrete pumps inNorth
America for the first time, with one
unit shown on the stand of itsUS
distributor ReedConcrete Pumps.
The company’s concrete
equipment division already sells
mobile and stationary batch plants,
mixers and concrete recycling
systems, but this year will add its
truckmounted concrete pumps
in the 17m to 58m boomheight
range.
The addition of the concrete
pumps is just one part of a strategy
that will see Liebherr attempt to
increase its earthmoving,material
handling and concrete equipment
business inNorthAmerica. Peter
Mayr, president of Liebherr
ConstructionEquipment Co – the
company’s subsidiary inNorth
America – said that the business
intended to “dramatically expand
our distributionnetwork over the
next five years.”
Cranes
Liebherr also launched a new 160
tonne capacity all terrain crane
at ConExpo, to replace the LTM
1160-5.1.Major changes from
its predecessor include awidth
reduction from 3m to 2.75m and,
instead of two engines, it is now a
single engine design.
Other new crane launches at the
exhibition came from Sany, which
introduced a 100 tonne capacity
telescopic boom crawler crane, the
SCC8100TB. It has a 47.5mfive
section, full power boomwith a
pair of single stage double acting
extension cylinders.
