telehandlers’ capacities and reachhave also
changed over the course of the last few years.
Jurgemeyer says 6,000 and8,000-pounders
are still well-requested, but for his company, the
10k and12ks arewhere it’s at.
“The12,000-poundmachine is fast becoming
a very popularmachine,” he says. “'Bigger is
better’ so to speak for some contractors. The
near term trendswill likely increase lifting
capacity and reach to some extent.”
For Trico, Carmolingo increasedhis company’s
range to include15,000-poundunits.
“Our experience is that themarket is trending
upward right now,” he says. “There is a demand
formachines across categories including
construction,manufacturing and industry. Those
who are able to react to the demandquickly
andwithquality equipment and serviceswill
continue to see growth.”
If it was any indication, ConExpo saw a number
of telehandler “new releases,” includingunits
from JCB, JLG,Manitou, XtremeManufacturing,
Dieci andmore (see our ConExpo review on
pages 36 formore.)
