its fullyworking height and fiveminutes to

“Customers are always looking for new and
innovativeways to carry out their workmore
efficiently andmore effectively,” Krieger said.
“In concert with customer input, our engineers
have been able to reach new heights for this
next generation of Genie telescopic boom lifts.”
The X-chassis extends and retracts to
provide stability on the job and a narrow profile
for transport. Terex AWP first debuted the
X-chassis at The Rental Show 2013 on the
Genie ZX-135 booms. (See our news pages for
a story about Genie’s letter of concern to JLG
about a possible patent infringement regarding
the chassis design on JLG’s new boom.)
“This [common chassis] allows our big booms
to sharemany design features providing parts
and operating commonality,” Krieger said.
When stowed, the SX-180 is 10-feet-tall and
8 feet, 2 incheswide. With a stowed length of
42 feet, 7 inches, the 54,000-poundmachine
requires no over-width or over-height permits
which allows it to be easily transported on a
truck. Operators need to only push a button
and themachine’s swiveling axles extend
hydraulically once themachine is set towork.
When spread out, the four legs/outriggers
make an “X” shape, hence the name.
Themodel features easy access to important
systems and components, robust hose and
harness routings and access to slew bearing
bolts from topside. According to Kreiger,
it takes a total of two hours to remove the
boom’swiring and cylinder.
Platform controls consist of toggle switches
and fully proportional jib and boom controls.
The ground controls offer an updated function
diagram layout and tactilemembrane switches.
Customersmay choose from aDeutz or Perkins
engine. A 50 gallon fuel tank for longer run
time and a 7.5 KW generator are standard
equipment.
Haulotte
Haulotte also debuted a brand new boom lift
at ConExpo. The HT67 RTJ features a 67-foot
platform height and is ideal for a range of
industries, including construction, shipbuilding,
chemical and petrochemical and aviation. ‘RTJ’
stands for rough-terrain jib.
Haulotte says the boom has the best working
envelope for its class, the fastest lift speed
– it reaches full height in 56 seconds – and
has fully proportional and simultaneous
movements.
The unit’s horizontal outreach taps out at 60
feet, 5 inches and there is the option for dual
load capacity that offers 1,000 pounds
total of lifting strength.
Speaking to the press at ConExpo,
BernieDuque, vice president of
aerial work platformmarketing
and product management,
said the boomswill
be produced and
manufactured at
Haulotte’s Ohio
facility.
“This is the
next generation of Haulotte lifts,”
Duque said. “It is focused on
providing performance, value, and up-time
for the customer. The HT67 RTJ offers the
best working envelope in its size range, is
maneuverable and can reach full working
height in just 56 seconds.”
The boom features four-wheel drive and a
steering selector that lets the operator choose
two-wheel, four-wheel or crab steering.

Additionally, the HT67
RTJ’s boom has been
designed to ensure
the best rigidity
on themarket,
according to
Haulotte, and the
capacity of the
hydraulic circuit has been
optimized so “the operator
can achievemaximum
control in comfort and
safety,” the company said.
Oscillating axles and an automatic differential
lock allow optimum rough-terrain travel.
The boom is extended by cables, so it is no
longer necessary to dismantle the boom to
replace the extension system. Components are
easy to access andmaintain, Haulotte said,
and a diagnostic display for fault and service
alerts is integrated into the lower control box,
enabling pre-diagnosis to save service time.
