distributing the weight of the boom across
more axles. It can be disconnected on site to
give the P1000 its full off road capabilities.
The machine includes detachable fly boom
and a basket that can be turned 180 degrees so
that they are both stored on the chassis during
transport.The lift cylinders have hydraulic
accumulators to reduce the force in the slew
ring while the boom is resting on the dolly.
Tree tasks
Platform Basket has launched a down-
rated version of its 34.5 model through US
distributor Tracked Lifts, named Arborist by
Arborists, and is aimed directly at that sector. It
has a simplified operating system and is entirely
hardwired rather than having a remote control.
There are no electronic components and the
angle of the chassis has been changed for steep
hills. The machine has a 73 ft platform height
and a 300 lb capacity. One of its uses will be to
Xtreme Manufacturing was debuting North America’s largest capacity telehandler on its shared booth with
Snorkel, following Xtreme’s acquisition of Snorkel last year.
The new XR6538 can lift an incredible 65000lbs (30000kg) and is designed for use in mining, bridge
building and pipe handling applications. Weighing in at nearly 100000lbs (45000kg) unloaded and featuring
6ft (1.82m) tall tyres and a 24.6ft (7.5m) turning radius, the XR6538 is designed as an alternative to truck-
mounted cranes. The machine is powered by a 300hp Cummins Tier 4 Final engine and has a large 150
gallon fuel capacity, which reduces the frequency the machine will need to be refuelled.
At the other end of the scale, Xtreme also launched its smallest telehandler to date. The XR5919 can lift
5900 lbs (2675 kg). It has an11ft (3.3m) turning radius and a narrow 71in (1.8m) width for working in tight
spaces
Using ConExpo as its launch pad, JCB debuted four new telehandlers, including the compact 525-60 Hi-
Viz telehandler; the 540-200 telehandler offering what the company says is North America’s highest reach
at 66 feet; the high-capacity 560-80; and the 516-42, JCB’s first 16000 pound capacity telehandler with a
lift height of 42 ft.
The JLG 3614RS and 4017RS telehandlers, specifically for the Europe/Africa/Middle East (EAME) market,
feature a 3600 kg maximum lift capacity and a 14 m maximum lift height and a 4000 kg lift capacity and
17m maximum lift height, respectively.
The SkyTrack 10054 and 8042 telehandlers
were also new. They represented upgrades to the
entire SkyTrack series. One of the major upgrades
is single joystick operation with pilot-operated
hydraulics. The single joystick directs all functions
of the main lift, telescope, and fork tilt, while the
redesigned cabs include an added armrest, three-
way adjustable suspension seat, and optional air
conditioning for improved comfort.The upgraded
series also features improved boom speeds. A
redesign of the rear counterweight, which now
includes a retrieval hitch as standard, increases the
versatility on the jobsite.
The new telehandler reconditioning programme
is an extension of JLG’s combustion booms
programme. The G10 telehandler is the first JLG
telehandler available for reconditioning. It involves
tearing down the machine, inspecting it, replacing
components based on wear, reassembling the
machine, and repainting it.

Wisconsin-based engineering company and
will be aimed at all markets outside Europe.
It will be supplied on a 7 tonne GVW chassis
and is made of high strength steel with an
electronic control system. It will be followed by
a 30 m version on up to a 10 tonne truck.
On the road
Palfinger Platforms showed a prototype boom
dolly to complement its new 100 m truck
mount for the US.
The P1000 truck mount, brought into
production in the last year, is an updated
version of the WT1000 introduced to the
North American market two years ago.The
conversions to the machine are designed to
make it roadable in the US.
The new dolly plays an important part in
Time Manufacturing and Ruthmann shared a
stand at ConExpo. Ruthmann introduced its
Steiger High Performance range to the US
market for the first time last year and is
now working to attract customers across
North America to the non-insulated design.
Applications include wind turbines and cell
phone towers where self propelled booms
and rope climbing have been used in the
past.
PB Lift Technique was in the US for the first
time with its new distributor ReachMaster.
The 22 m S225-12ES shown at exhibition is
expected to be attractive to builders of high
bay facilities that are increasingly being built
in North America. The model is 1.2 m wide,
making it ideal to fit between the racking
systems in these facilities.
