More than 640 instructors and
training centre staff attended
IPAF Professional Development
Seminars (PDS) across 17
countries in eight languages in
the last few months.
The PDS is the annual event
for IPAF certified instructors
and ensures that they remain
up-to-date with legislation and
training.Through attending
the event, instructors gain
Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) points,
necessary to maintain their
IPAF instructor status.This
commitment to continuous
learning is one of the unique
features of the IPAF training
programme.

MEWPs for Managers training
in Windsor after Summit
IPAF-approved training centre
HSS will offer the MEWPs for
Managers training course on 4
April 2014, a day after and at the
same venue as the IPAF Summit
and International Awards for
Powered Access (IAPAs), at
the Beaumont Estate Hotel in
Windsor, near London in the UK.
The IPAF MEWPs for
Managers course is aimed
at enabling supervisors and
managers to prepare for and
safely coordinate various types of
mobile elevating work platforms
(MEWPs) on site.
The course does not qualify
attendees to operate MEWPs.
However, attendees will receive
instruction and training that will
allow them to effectively address
all aspects of MEWP safe use on
their projects.
The syllabus includes topics
such as: MEWP legislation
and guidance, rental terms and
conditions, machine types and
use, structural parts and MEWP
selection, operator training and
familiarisation, operator daily
inspection, MEWP personal fall
protection, safe operating methods
and hazard awareness.
Attendees who successfully pass
the written test at the end of the
course will receive a certificate of
completion.The course is targeted
at project managers, construction
foremen, supervisors and other
construction personnel. Details at
