Liebherr upgrades
LR1750 crawler

West Chester Permit,
an oversize and overweight
permit service company, has
rolled out a newweb-based
permit ordering program
named Atlas to better serve
the specialized and heavy haul
industry. The system enables
faster response to changing
state, provincial and local
permitting rules. Atlas also
supports better integration
with newer computer devices
such as tablets and smart
phones. The new interface
includes better equipment
management, file upload
capability and increased
functionality.
Liebherr has upgraded its LR
1750 latticeboom crawler
crane, increasing its capacity
by asmuch as 30percent to
750metric tons.
A strengthenedmainboom
andmodifiedderrick system
give theLR1750/2 ahigher
load capacity. The cranenow
offersmuchbetter value for
themoney, themanufacturer
said. Its derrickboom is
extendedby7meters to38.5
meters. In linewith theheavy
boomkit for theLR1600/2
the strengthenedboomon
theLR1750/2has an “H” for
“heavy” suffix.
Alsomodified is the
ballast trailerwhichnowhas
hydraulicdrive to improve
handling. Additionalwork
platforms, access points and
extended railings are included
to improveoperator safety. To
helpowners of theLR1750
its components can alsobe
usedon thenewLR1750/2,
Liebherr said.

NYBridge project
requires cranes galore
A joint ventureof four
construction companies called
TappanZeeConstructors
(TZC)hasbegunworkon
the$3.9billionNewYork
Bridge. The three-mile twin
NYBridgewill bebuilt across
theHudsonRiver andwill
replace the60-year-oldTappan
ZeeBridge. Some30 cranes
areon site, 14ofwhichare
Manitowocs.

partners in the consortium
broughtManitowoc cranes
to theproject.Among them
are a11000-1 crawler loading
andunloading supplies from
barges; twoManitowoc4600
ringer cranes that aredoing

sheets, setting concrete and
casting forms, andperforming
formwork; aManitowoc
14000 cleaningpiles and
handlingdigout chores; anda
Manitowoc999usinga clam
bucket tohandle cleanout
work forpiles.”

Thebridge sections are
constructed130miles away
from site andwill be floated
down theHudsonRiver for
assembly. Theprojectwill be
completed in2018.

Talbert
updates
Traveling
Axle series
Talbert Manufacturing, has
updated its Traveling Axle
Series by increasing its
hauling capacity by 5 tons.
Three of the new trailer
models – the 4048TA,
4050TA and 4053TA – have
a 40-ton hauling capacity, and
the new 5548TA and 5553TA
trailer models haul asmuch
as 55 tons. The five new
trailer models will replace the
others within the TA Series.
The TA Series trailers
feature a 36-inch loaded
deck height which provides
additional clearance for
bridges and tunnels when
transporting tall equipment.
Talbert also offers two
upgrade options, a six-
function remote and a
20,000-pound planetary
winch allow the operator
the ability to adjust the
movement of the axles, winch
and deck while loading.
