European launch
for Hitachi hybrid
H
itachi’s new ZH210LC-5 hybrid
excavator is the first of a new
generation of such machines and
makes use of advanced technologies from
hydraulic, electric and battery powered
excavators. The result is the TRIAS HX system
that combines a hybrid system with an energy
efficient TRIAS hydraulic system to achieve
extremely low levels of fuel consumption,
claims the company.
The TRIAS hydraulic system employs a
three-pump/three control valve system, which
results in greater accuracy and reduces pressure
loss that saves energy as a result. The machine
features an electric power assist system that
comes into force for small swing operations,
using the energy from electric swing motors,
further reducing fuel consumption.

Komatsu has introduced the PC170LC-10 into
the European market, with operating weights
from 17.3 to 18.2 tonnes, depending on
specification. According to the company, it offers
up to 5% greater lift capacity with a standard
counterweight compared to the PC160LC-8
that it replaces and fitting an optional heavier
counterweight provides an increase of up to
15%. The latter, says Komatsu, is ideal for
contractors looking for a more powerful lifting
machine, combining versatility with power for
the widest range of applications.
