Chinese equipment
is coming of age

doesn’t hold back in
new ICEF video
A
video of the dynamic presentation given by Liugong president Zeng
Guang’an during the inaugural International Construction Economic
Forum (ICEF) is now available on the KHL.com Video Zone.
Mr Zeng was confident that Chinese construction equipment manufacturers
are ready for the next phase growth in the country, concentrating on
improving quality and reliability.
“A lot of new reform and changes in politics, the economy and society are
coming,” he said. “GDP growth of between +7% and +8% is forecast for the
next decade, and the whole country will focus on high quality and improving
efficiency in construction equipment.
“Production of Chinese construction equipment will slow down to more
reasonable growth. We have to go from high-speed growth to low-speed
growth and the industry’s values are also changing.”
Mr Zeng also spoke about the prospects for consolidation in the industry,
and sought to dispel some prejudices about Chinese-made machines.
“There is a stereotype of low cost and low quality in Chinese-built products,
and while this idea existed 10 years ago and was right, today it has totally
changed. There are many misconceptions about Chinese manufacturing.”

equipment manufacturing industry

They also look at two of the
largest construction projects of
the year – the Crossrail project
in London, UK, which is still
ongoing, and preparations for
the Sochi Winter Olympics in
Russia, which kick off in February
this year.
The video also runs through

2013, including the giant industry
event that was April’s Bauma
construction equipment show in
Munich, Germany.
The

upcoming exhibitions in 2014
and offers a brief market outlook
for the construction industry in
Europe over the next 12 months.
It looks like the construction
markets in Europe may have
bottomed out in 2013, and a slow
recovery is forecast to begin in
2014, gaining further momentum
in 2015 and 2016.
It said this year represented the
lowest point for construction
volumes, with total output across
the 19 countries monitored by
Euroconstruct forecast to fall -3%.
