built to takeheavy-dutywork,” saidEugene.
This flagshipmachine replaces theQE440
at the topof the range and changes include
updates to the screenbox, screendrive and
screenmedia, aswell as improvements to the
apronplate feeder,wear resistant hopper and
radio remote controls, all ofwhich are fitted as
standard.
New trommel from Edge
Edge Innovate hosted its first ever dealer open day with 80 delegates attending from over
20 different countries worldwide and used the event to introduce its newest product, the
TRM516mobile trommel that is suitable for use in a wide range of applications, such as
aggregates, skip waste, industrial and demolition waste recycling.
Themachine features a 4.9m (16 ft) drum that permits it to produce high quality
materials such as compost, gravel, sand and topsoil with ease, said Edge, and also
achieves enhanced screening results as result of the greater length of time that material
remains in the drum. This, claimed the company, results in amachine that can process
many material types that only larger trommels previously could.
Other features on themachine include an overload sensing systemwhere the drum
and feeder work together to prevent overloading using pressure transducer technology.
Hydraulic pressure used to drive the drum is continuously monitored – should the
pressure rise too high, the drum slows down and should it remain too high the feeder will
slow down to an eventual stop. Once the pressure drops the drum speeds up again.
By engineering a very compact end conveyor machine, Edge said it has kept the
advantage of a side conveyor product with all the advantages of the end conveyor
offering, ultimately giving the customer the best of both worlds. For those that require
a 90° output conveyor, the radial conveyor can of course be set to that position either
left or right to offer this feature. Optional oversize and radial fines conveyors are also
available for higher stockpiling requirements.
The fact thatmachines like theQE441 can
either beused to feed crushers or operate as
sizing screens is increasing theirpopularity
according toEugene. “Scalping screenshave
become verybig in themarket sowe are
expanding the range.Customers are looking
formachines thatwill domore thanone
application.A scalping screenwill do the job
of a scalper or a sizing screen,”he said.
TheQE441has amaximum capacityof 900
tonnes perhour and themaximum feed size
is 800mm. Power comes from a96kW (129
hp)Cat engine and theweight of the standard
model is just over 37 tonnes.
According toSandvik, themarket in
general for this typeofmachine remains flat.
However, it said that being amajorplayer that
is able tooffer financing, buy-backs andother
soft productswas appreciatedby customers.
SandvikConstruction’s vicepresident for
globalmarkets,GregAlbert said: “Financing
andbuy-back are abig competitive advantage
forus. In emergingmarkets financingnever
used tobeneeded, but now it is being asked
for and it is abigopportunity.”

Terex Mineral Processing Systems has
expanded its CR Seriesmobile plant
line with the addition of the Cedarapids
CRS620S screen, which offers increased
productivity with greater capacity,
said the company. Terex MPS went
on to say that the new unit can be
used in applications where traditional
horizontal screens cannot because of
the combination of its EL-Jay high g-force
strokemotion combined with adjustable
slope operation, which allow it to handle
larger deck loads and larger screen
openings. The screen slope can be
hydraulically adjusted in 2.5° increments
up to amaximum of 7.5° to allow the
screen to be tailored to the application.
Screen openings up to 152mm (6
inch) are possible and patent pending
“slant spring” screen suspension provides
stability at all slopes. The plant features
large capacity conveyors to handle the
high production capabilities of the new
LJ-TSV screen. The 1.2m (3.4 ft) wide
fines conveyor with elevated discharge
and the two 0.8m (2.5 ft) wide
reversible cross conveyors that extend
up to 1m (3.3 ft) beyond themain
frame easily feed off-plant conveyors.
Roll-away blending chutes and extended
walkways allow easy access to screen
cloth. The patented low-maintenance
flex shaft screen drive eliminates drive
belt influence on the screenmotion, belt
whip, belt slippage, and spring loaded
belt tensioners. There are no drive
adjustments necessary when the screen
slope is altered. In addition, the new flex
shaft drive folds for travel, without shaft
