C
aterpillar has released
two new telehandlers,
the TH414C GC and
TH417C GC, aimed at rental-fleet
operators seeking equipment
with low operating costs and
ease of use.
With rated load capacities
of 3,600kg and 4,000kg, and
maximum lift heights of
13,850mm and 17,000mm,
the company said the
machines featured heavy-duty
construction of booms and
frames, field-proven power-train
components, robust hydraulic
system, and intuitive operator’s
station.
The GC models use a four-
cylinder, 3.6-litre TCD L4 engines
with a power rating of 74kW,
which has been designed with
fuel efficiency as a priority.
Equipped with a maintenance-
free diesel oxidation catalyst
(DOC), the engine meets Stage
IIIB emissions standards.
The GC cab features large
flat glass areas. Switches are
clustered by function, and a
new instrument/dash panel is
designed for at-a-glance reading.
Cat said that the design of the
cab’s door sills allowed the cab
floor to be easily cleaned with
a hose.
One of the key features of the
new telehandlers is a permanent
four-wheel drive and they use
a limited-slip differential in
the front axle to ensure ample
traction in any operating
situation.
For maximum reliability in
harsh operating conditions, the
hydraulic system in GC models
Cat‘s two new telehandlers are aimed at rental
fleet operators seeking low operating costs
uses a robust gear pump,
and the system’s flow-sharing
main valve provides smooth,
responsive control of three
simultaneous operations.
All hydraulic functions,
including stabiliser actuation
and auxiliary hydraulics, are fully
proportional and controlled
via a single joystick for intuitive
operation and reduced operator
fatigue.
For added versatility, the two
models are equipped with a
standard integrated tool carrier
quick coupler that is compatible
with other Cat telehandler
models.
It can accommodate standard
and side-shift carriages, general-
purpose and light-material
buckets, 4m truss boom and
lifting hook.

Volvo’s used
stock app
launched
Volvo Construction
Equipment has launched
an app designed to give
customers instant access to
the entire stock of its used
equipment.
The app – for the EMEA
(Europe, Middle East and
Africa) region – is available
for free download from
the AppStore and contains
details of all used equipment
that is available, and the
contact details (email or
phone) for each unit. The
app also features a full dealer
locator search function for
participating Volvo CE used
equipment dealers in the
region, and a specific Volvo
Approved Used search
function.
Volvo’s rental and
remarketing director for
EMEA, Nick Rose, said, “We
know that more and more
customers are searching for
used equipment by way of
mobile devices.
“Up to 40% of current
searches for used equipment
are via mobile devices so this
app puts Volvo CE and our
dealers in a prime position to
meet this need in relation to
used equipment.”
It is envisaged that the
app will widen the used
equipment customer base
and increase the number of
product card views.
Accessible in 25 languages,
the app provides instant
access to the live database of
used equipment, both Volvo
and non-Volvo, available
through the participating
Volvo dealer network in the
EMEA region.
While the initial launch is
for Apple devices, an android
version will also be released
shortly.
