TheNational
Commission for
theCertification
of Crane
Operators
(NCCCO) is
preparing a
slate of activities and announcements as
part of a special recognition program that
will mark the twentieth anniversary of the
founding of the non-profit organization.
“Over the past two decades, CCO
certification has become established as
the premier crane-related credential in
theUnited States, if not theworld,” said
NCCCOChief ExecutiveOfficer, Graham
Brent. “None of themajor improvements
in jobsite safety advances that have come
with the introduction of professional
personnel certificationwould have been
possiblewithout the industry foundation that
establishedNCCCO and has continued to
support it ever since.”
NCCCOwas founded by the Specialized
Carriers &RiggingAssociation (SC&RA)
in January 1995with the singular goal of
improving the safety of crane operations. It
followed almost a decade of commitment by
a dedicated group of volunteers to establish
effective performance standards for those
whowork in and around cranes. The result
of this vision and determinationwas a fair,
valid and reliable assessment of crane
operator knowledge and skills, Brent said.
“Naturally, wewant to be sure that
we celebrate this historicmilestone
appropriately,” Brent said, “andwe’ve
selected a number of projects that will tell
the story of NCCCO and help position the
organization for further growth over the next
two decades through a number of important
announcements during the year.”
