TadanoMantis has
introduced awork platform
to its crawler cranes. The
platform is a 36 by 72 inch
personnel lifting devicewith a
load capacity of 750 pounds.
It was custom designed and
manufactured byMantis to
complement the capabilities of
nine cranes in theMantis
Crane line.
The platform can be fitted
in an hour and attacheswith
pins rather than bolts.With a
heavy duty all-steel construction
and self-levelling capability, the
platforms includes a swing-
in entry door, non-skid floor,
interior handrails, tool storage
racks, D-rings for attaching
safety lanyards and an all-round
150mm toe hold. It is operated
from the crane cab using
normal crane controls and
monitored by Tadano’s LMI.
Liebherr’s Diesch is
promoted;Pitzer takes
over his U.S. role
After 11yearsmanaging
thebusiness at Liebherr
Cranes, Inc. (LCI),Georg
Dieschhas beenpromoted to
managingdirector at Liebherr
HydraulikbaggerGmbH in
Kirchdorf,Germany, the
factory thatmanufactures
Liebherrmobile excavators
andmaterial handling
equipment.
TakingDiesch’s place in the
UnitedStates isDaniel Pitzer,
whowas appointedpresident
of LCI, in chargeof all types
of Liebherr all terrain cranes
and the larger capacity crawler
cranes.
For the last nine yearsPitzer
worked at themobile crane
factory inEhingen,Germany,
managing sales in several
English-speaking countries.
Duringhis international
business studies he lived in
theU.S.wherehe earnedhis
MBAdegreebefore returning
toGermany.

Rogers debuts new
West Coast-style trailer
Rogers has produced anew
80-ton capacitymodular
trailer for a specializedhauling
company inHouston, TX. The
13-axleunit includes a3+3+3
trailer and a4-axle tractor.
It is fittedwith “WestCoast
style” suspension todistribute
weight to theback six axles
using a rocker shaft in the rear
of the trailer, themanufacturer
said.
“The air ride suspensions
of the first three axles are
attached to a subframe
that ‘rocks’ inside the rear
frame; and it balances, like
a teeter-totter [see-saw],
with theback three axles
of the ‘stinger’ or bogie,” a
company spokesperson said.
In addition, the suspension
systemhas an air-height
adjustment system that is
controlledbyhandvalves.
Each axleof themain trailer
is fittedwith shut-off valves
and chains.AdditionalAir
Weigh electronic scales have
alsobeen installedon the
trailer, stinger and jeepdolly
tomeasure individual axle
loads.
The trailer has amechanical
detachable gooseneckwith
a16-foot swing clearance.
Insteadof the traditional
Rogers hook and shaft
connection, thenew trailer
uses a “pin andpaddle”
methodof connection, a
company spokesperson added.
The trailer has a30-foot long
and10-footwideplatform
deck,which canbe increased
with an additional futuredeck
insert. The trailer is fitted
withLED lights and electronic
back-up alarms. The total
weight, including the jeep
dolly, is 33 tons.
The trailer is fittedwith the
West Coast-style suspension to
distributeweight to the back six
axles using a rocker shaft in the
rear of the trailer.
