All Erection orders 10
MLC300 crawlers
All Erection&CraneRental
has ordered10units of

ManitowocMLC300 crawler
crane.
Launched atConExpo
inMarch, theMLC300
has theVariablePosition
Counterweight (VPC) system
first seenon theModel 31000
several years ago. In theVPC
system, the counterweight is
centeredbetween the fully
retracted and fully extended
positions tobalance the crane’s
center of gravity. Itmoves on
a rail system according to the
boom extension.
Michael Liptak,All Erection
&CraneRental president,
said, “This is our bread-and-
butter capacity range, and
being able to create savings
for our customers here, at
this capacity, is part ofwhy
customers chooseAll.Without
hyperbole, I tell you that this
technologywill change the
crawler category.”
For theMLC300, theVPC-
MAX attachment increases the
max loadmomentwhen a100
foot fixedmast, aVPC-MAX
counterweight beam and an
additional 88,185pounds of
counterweight is added to
thebase crane. The ground
preparation areaneeded for

that requiredby competitive
cranes.
Advantages of theVPC are
a smaller operating footprint
with less groundpreparation
and lower groundbearing
pressure,All said. Lessmatting
isneeded and there isno
car body counterweight so
transport cost is reduced.
“We can reduce thenumber
of requiredmats byhalf.
That’s thousands of dollars
in savings permonth, and
that’s sayingnothingof the
reduced counterweight loads
and the savings realizedby
reducing the required job
siteprep area,” saidRick
