orecasters were cautious with their outlooks
for rental growth last year, and with good
reason – North America apart, 2012 did not
live up to its promise, and the same uncertainties
that held economies back two years ago remained
relativelyunchangedat the start of 2013.
But in theend, apicturehasemergedof a relatively
stable year, with themomentumbehind the recovery
in North America contrasting with a still-sluggish
Europe and a faltering Australia. And this came amid
modest growth from emerging countries, where
fledgling rentalmarketsare still gainingground.
