Harsco Infrastructure and

Harsco Infrastructure and Brand
Energy are merging to form one of
the largest scaffold, shoring and

U.S. private equity firm
Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R)
is to merge two of the world’s

businesses after simultaneously
acquiring Harsco Infrastructure
from Harcso and Brand Energy
from First Reserve.

Ruthmann now represented in North
America by Time Manufacturing
German truck-mounted aerial
work platform manufacturer
Ruthmann is now being marketed
in North America by U.S. truck-
mounted aerial manufacturer Time
Manufacturing.
At ICUEE, Oct. 1-3 in Louisville,
KY, Time Manufacturing had a
Ruthmann T 175 A mounted on a
Freightliner 3-axle chassis at its
exhibit. After ICUEE, Time is taking
the T 175 A on a roadshow across
North America to demonstrate
the performance capabilities of
this state-of-the-art aerial work
platform.
The T 175 A is a kit version of the
Height performance-Steiger T 540,
which won an International Award
for Powered Access (IAPA) recently.
For more on ICUEE, see our
review on page 13.
Two-thirds of the combined
company’s revenues are
generated from the energy sector,
with a significant level of recurring
revenue driven by required
maintenance work.
“The combination of these two
groups of strong local operating
companies and management
teams creates a true global leader
in both specialized industrial
services and forming and
shoring,” said Paul Wood, Brand
Energy CEO. “The resulting global
footprint will enable us to offer
best in class operating capabilities
to our customers in the growing
energy and infrastructure
markets.”
Patrick Decker, Harsco president
and CEO, said the sale of
Infrastructure was the first step
in a “strategic transformation of
Harsco.” He said it strengthened
the company’s finances and made
it a less complex business, and
that its equity stake in the new
Brand business would allow it to
benefit in the future.
The transaction, which was
unanimously approved by the
Harsco board of directors, is set to
be completed in late 2013.
Genie has made a number of
changes to its compact GTH-
5519 telehandler. Debuting
the updated machine at
ICUEE, Oct. 1-3 in Louisville,
KY, the GTH-5519’s specs
have changed and its
overall length reduced by
5 inches. The telehandler’s
wheelbase has expanded
by 2 inches and the turning
radius has decreased by 3
inches. The overall weight
has increased by 540 pounds
to 10,360 pounds. The
telehandler’s main design
changes are reflected in the
engine choice, cab design,
serviceability and product
quality, the company said.
For more on the GTH-5519,
see our ICUEE review on
page 13.
According to Ruthmann, the kit was
customized for the North American
market and shipped to the U.S. in
August. It is fully compliable North
American ANSI standards. Once
the T 175 A was assembled and
mounted, staff members from Time
received sales and service training
from Ruthmann employees at
Time’s office in Waco, TX.
“For years, Ruthmann has
focused on expanding its
international presence,” it said
in a press statement. “The
company is now turning its
attention to the North American
market and the continuation of a
fruitful partnership between two
manufacturers that have a lot in
common.”
