I
’m excited to announce KHL Group Americas is launching the first-ever
ALH
Conference & Awards set for Nov. 11 in Miami. After the mega-
success of our 2013 International Awards for Powered Access (IAPA) in
Miami, we knew the timing was right for a legacy North American access
event. With the market thriving, rental companies have returned to equipment
levels similar to those of 2008 – prior to the downturn – and across the board,
companies are expecting numbers to outpace those of 2007 and 2008.
For those in the industry, this is a clear indication of rental growth across
the U.S. as well as an overall market resurgence for manufacturers and
contractors. Part of this growth is attributed to not only construction and
housing starts, but also to rental companies’ diversification.
A conference to address rental in the 21st century as it booms back is
critical to companies’ success. The market is quickly gaining speed and
while it does, the
ALH
Conference & Awards will bring decision-makers the
significant information they need to propel their business even further.
In true KHL style, the event will feature top-notch speakers (Don Ahern has
been confirmed), networking opportunities and an evening awards dinner
to honor best practices and innovative equipment. We are also pleased to

We are still in the preliminary planning process but are excited to move
forward and present to the industry an event unlike any other in North

How can we top that news?
Well, this issue might feel a little different to those accustomed to
ALH
’s
typical 52 pages. In the middle, you’re going to find a 16-page mast climber
and hoist supplement. After a year of planning, and a lot of collaboration with
the industry, the supplement provides an educational look at mast climbers,
construction hoists and transport platforms. We’ve broken the machines
down and have provided an insight into their components, primary functions
and more. We also have jobsite reports and an update from IPAF about their
mast climbing endeavors. It’s a great pull-out section and we hope you enjoy
it. If you’re going to World of Concrete, stop by our booth (C4224) to see the
supplement as a stand-alone version printed separately from the magazine.
Also inside this issue you’ll find interviews with Simplex Equipment Rental
