HIGHLIGHTS
XL Specialized has
launched two new models
– the XL Hydraulic and
Mechanical Extendable
trailers. The new trailers
feature a patent-pending
main deck design and
extend-a-trac technology.
The XL HDE is available
in a 40-ton and a 45-ton
capacity, while the MDE
is available in a 35-ton,
40-ton and 45-ton
capacity. Both hydraulic
and mechanical models
feature a new one-piece
track pan design, adding
stability to the extend-
a-trac. Extend-a-trac
allows users to extend and
retract the trailer without
hooking and unhooking air
and electric lines.
Shuttlelift launches DB 200
Shuttlelift has unveiled its
largest rubber-tired, double-
beam, fully traversable gantry
crane, the Shuttlelift DB 200.
More than 54-feet tall, 68-feet
wide and just under 44-feet
long, the new DB 200 can
handle loads up to a 400,000
pounds. According to Kurt
Minten, Shuttlelift’s director of
industrial sales, the crane also
has a unique ability.
“What makes this machine
unique is that a 200-ton load
can move from one side of
the crane to the other,” he
explained. “This is the largest
full-capacity, fully traversable
crane out there.”
The crane can lift a full-
capacity load on one side
or the other, not just on
its centerline. “Any other
manufacturer’s rubber-tired
gantry crane with a lifting
capacity greater than 300,000
pounds will have that capacity
diminished when the load
is not on the centerline,” the
company said.
“The DB 200 is a new
design, which we specifically
tailored to suit the customer’s
requirements,” Minten said.
“We’re all enthused about it.”
The new DB 200 is currently

crane in testing
Mammoet has developed a
new 600-metric ton terminal
crane known as the MTC15.
The unit has a maximum load
moment rating of 15,000 ton-
meters. It can be installed in
general ports to provide heavy
lift capability, for example,
for load ins and load outs
of petrochemical vessels
and other components and
equipment.

water or sand, can be used for

containers) crane’s ballast and

it can be assembled by one
80 metric ton assist crane. Its
capability is comparable with
a 1,200 metric ton capacity
crawler crane, Mammoet said.
“With the successful testing
of the MTC15 in Westdorpe,
the Netherlands, Mammoet
has engineered a technological
breakthrough for our
customers,” says Mammoet’s
Patrick van der Meide.

undergoing product testing,
but in November, the machine
will be delivered to its new
owner, a power supplier in
Canada.
“The local dealer, Cropac
Equipment, will be heavily
involved in setting up the
crane with our technicians
and overseeing its operation
through the one-year warranty
period,” Minten said.
One of the crane’s features is
all-wheel electronic steering.
“Since all four wheels at all
four corners of the crane are
able to turn, the operator
can employ several different
modes of steering: two-wheel
steer 90-degree front, two
wheel steer 90-degree rear,
crab, transverse and coordinate
– which means maximum
flexibility, maneuverability
and precision handling,” the
company said.
The unit also has a wireless
remote control; proximity
sensors; an ultrasonic
shutdown system and an
electronic load readout that
provides indication in the cab
of the load weight being lifted.
Also new to the DB 200 is
the custom operator’s cab. The
cab is elevated so the operator’s

eye level, in a seated position,
is 35.5 feet from the ground.
Lastly, instead of the standard
ladder, a series of stairs and
platforms offers easier access
to the cab.
The DB 200 has hoists
mounted low for easy
inspection and routine
maintenance and grease-
able fittings on sheaves and
pivot points that flush out
contaminants, increasing the
life of the bearings.
“We think our customers and
dealers are going to be very
excited to see this machine,”
Minten said. “Yes, it’s a very
big, powerful crane, and
it’s also truly unique to the
marketplace.”
