WHECO/TRAM enter
distributor agreement
Dave Wood and Cameron
Baker celebrate the new
partnership between WHECO
and Standfast USA.
America provide crane owners
with convenient installation
locations.
“TRAM is a patented, world-
class fall protection system
with so many advantages
over other systems.” said Ron
Williams, CEO, WHECO
Corporation. “The TRAM
system actually prevents the
fall and doesn’t leave the
worker suspended looking for
a way out. With fall protection
now being required, our
research pointed to TRAM
as having the best technology
with the most cost-effective
way to become compliant and
keep employees safe.”
Standfast USA signed a
distributor agreement with
WHECO Corp. to provide
sales, installation and support
of the Travel Restraint Access
Module (TRAM) fall restraint
system to the North American
crane aftermarket.
Standfast’s TRAM is a
movable total restraint
system preventing workers
from falling from the top of
telescopic and lattice boom
cranes, overhead cranes,
gantry and tower cranes. The
TRAM design consists of a
waist-level handhold that
moves along a foot-level rail
fixed to the crane boom, and
a lanyard connecting the
handlebar to the worker’s
harness. The system has a 180
degree rotating fold-down
handle as well as an air-
powered assistance arm that
is controlled by a hand brake
giving workers a boost during
both ascent and descent.
“While we are working with
the OEMs to make our systems
available factory direct, we
also needed a way to address
the aftermarket for existing
cranes that don’t currently
meet the OSHA standards,”
said Cameron Baker, CEO of
Standfast. “WHECO was the
logical choice.”
Baker said WHECO’s five

Capital City Group recently
supplied a Potain Igo T 130
self-erecting crane for use in
replacing the HVAC system
at The Ohio State University.
Commissioned by
contractor Bruner Corp,
the Igo T 130 was used
to remove the existing air
handling unit from a five-
story university building,
and then install 10 new
components to make up the
new system. The project
required more than 500
lifts, with the heaviest lift
weighing in at 9,000 pounds.
Mike Schlorman, senior
project manager at Bruner,
said the tall lifts and tight
working space between
buildings provided extra
challenges on the job.
“We chose this crane
because of the accessibility
and reach it offers,”
Bennett
acquires
Doran
Bennett Motor Express has
acquired Ohio-based Ace
Doran Hauling & Rigging for an
undisclosed sum. Ace Doran,
a family owned and operated
transportation company, has
served the shipping public
since 1913.
The addition of Ace Doran’s
200 independent owner-
operators increases Bennett’s
fleet by 25 percent to over
800 trucks. Over 100
additional transportation
freight agents will have
access to the combined fleet.
The purchase strengthens
Bennett’s geographic
footprint in the Midwestern
and Northeastern U.S. and
Canada.
“Our decision to buy Ace
Doran is consistent with
our strategy of prudent
growth,” said David Lowry,
vice president, Bennett
International Group and CEO,
Bennett Motor Express.
Ace Doran will continue
to operate from its Cincinnati
headquarters, with Dan Doran
joining Bennett and retaining
the title of president.
