bC India review
bC India review
Some 26,000 people
attendedDecember’s
bC India exhibition at its new home inGreater
Noida. The event wasmarked bymuch
anticipation of new infrastructure projects,
following the election of NarendraModi as Prime
Minister inMay.
Chris Sleight
reports.
he said bC India would remain
at the India Expo Centre. “This
will be the home for the show for
the foreseeable future. There is no
alternative,” saidMr Egetenmeir.
And Mr Egetenmeir was not
the only one at bC India who
was pinning some hopes on
the
infrastructure
investment
plans of the newly-elected Modi
government. Many exhibitors
iC
spoke to said they hoped 2015
wouldbe a big year for the industry,
with talk andpolicies becoming real
constructionprojects.
For example, Liugong India’s
general manager for finance, Ashok
Kumar told
iC
, “The previous
government was not making
any decisions about investment.
However, the new government is
setting up special departments to
speed up the process. The next year
should see a boom in construction
and implementation.”
He added, “We are optimistic and
the country is optimistic too.”
The company used the show to
launch its 2 tonne capacity CLG
818wheeled loader onto the Indian
equipment market at bC India.
Liugong said it was targeting the
utility market, which is currently
dominatedby backhoe loaders.
The unit features a 50 kW
Kirloskar engineandhas a5.6 tonne
operating weight. It can be fitted
with a 0.8–1.2m

bucket.
Liugong India director for sales&
service, NischalMehrotra said, “We
hope we’re going to rule themarket
with this machine. There is a gap
in the market for this size loader in
India.”
Mr Kumar added, “We will
provide it with a range of buckets,
plus we can provide forks for log
handling and grapples for the
scrap industry. We can also supply
extended arms to target the sugar
industry, where there is a need for
extra dump height to load hoppers.
That is seasonal work, so the quick
hitch is important.”
Marketing agreement
Another interestingpiece of news in
the loader sector at the showwas the
announcement that Terex India has
entered into a strategic marketing
agreement withChinese equipment
manufacturer Lonking.
Under the terms of the branding
and distribution agreement with
Lonking, Terex will sell dual
branded Terex-Lonking Chinese-
made wheeled loaders through its
distribution network in India. The
agreement also allows for Terex
to sell Lonking-made equipment
in other selected south-east Asian
markets.
Ina reciprocal agreement,Lonking
has the rights to sell Terex’s Indian-
made backhoe loaders through its
worldwide distributionnetwork.
At this stage, the agreement
is focussed on branding and
distribution. Terex said that if
market volumes were great enough,
it would consider a joint venture
arrangement formanufacturing.
The two Lonking-made wheeled
loaders on display at the bC India
exhibition were the 3 m

e event was held fromDecember
15 to 18, 2014 at the India Expo
Centre inGreaterNoida, near to the
capital,Delhi.
Itwas the third time theexhibition
has been held, but the first time in
Greater Noida. bC India 2011
and bC India 2013 took place in
Mumbai. The 2013 exhibition
attracted 28,000 visitors, and prior
to the show bC Expo India said it
hadhoped fornumbers in the region
of 30,000 for the 2014 edition.
It will remain in at the India
Expo Centre in Greater Noida for
the “foreseeable future,” according
to Eugen Egetenmeir, managing
director of co-organiser Messe
München International. However,
it may move closer to the centre of
Delhi if a mooted new exhibition
complex is built near the Indira
Ghandi International Airport.
But for the immediate future,
Schwing Stetter launched a
range of tower cranes on the
Indianmarket designed by its
parent company, XCMG.
Liugong is pitting its CLG 818wheeled loader against backhoe loaders
in India.
