and 21 tonne weight classes on show, alongside traditional and
short radius crawler excavators from 23 tonnes tomore than 50
tonnes. All feature Stage IV-compliant engines.
In terms of new Stage IV compliantmachines,Hitachi’s stand
will include a version of its 35 tonne class ZX350LC with a
super long reach front end. Also, and this emphasises the
international flavour of Intermat, the company will display a
standard configuration version of the machine with a Stage II-
compliant engine for less regulatedmarkets like Africa.
The company will also have newmini excavators on display,
and Intermat will also be the first time formany to see its range
of compaction equipment, which was unveiled to the world at
last June’s International Rental Exhibition (IRE).
Komatsu told

that its Intermat presencewill have a focus on
technology, from its Stage IV-compliant engines, to its hybrid
machines and intelligent machine control equipment. Among
the new launches will be the company’s newest intelligent
machine control dozer, the 20 to 25 tonne class D65, which
is availablewith a choice of three undercarriage configurations.
Stage IV-compliant excavators, wheeled loaders and dump
trucks will also form part of the display.
Kobleco’s return to Intermat will see it launch a new version
of its 5.5 tonne excavator which now features the company’s
INDR low noise cooling system –more of this in this month’s
feature on compact equipment.

acker Neusonwas among thewinners at the Intermat InnovationAwards in Paris
in January. The achievements of awide range of construction companieswere
recognised at the awards ceremony.
Judged by an international panel of 11 industry experts, the event showcased
developments in the building, earthmoving, demolition and civil engineering equipment
sectors.
The construction equipment gold accoladewent toWacker Neuson for its dual power 803
excavator.
According to the judges, themachine’s flexibility in switching between diesel and electric
mode had been at the core of its success. It was given particular praise for its emissions-
free capabilitieswhen operating in indoor environments under electric power.
Runners upwere Alphi for its TopDalle eco formwork for reinforced concrete slabs, and
Fayat for the company’s new generation low-cost continuous asphalt plant.
The equipment and component gold awardwent to Liebherr France, recognising safety
features on its crane operator lift. Its key features included a space-saving designwithin
tower sections. France-basedMecalac gained a silver award for itsM-Connect quick
coupler for constructionmachinery.
Merlo claimed the gold accolade for engineering and systemswith its transversal stability
system, which has been designed to help prevent equipment from overturning. The silver
awardwent to Liebherr France for its LDC demolition control system allowingmachine
operators greater precision over their
attachments.
Claiming the final gold award in the
digital applications category, Atlog
was praised for its Land2map 3-D
design software aimed at improving
topographical surveys for construction
jobsites. The silver awardwent to
Automelec, for its Tamisoft advanced
aggregatesmeasurement system.
Three further special awardswere
given by the judges, including an
environmental honour received by
MS for its advancedwater treatment
system.
Tekla also received an accolade for its
3-DBIM (building informationmodelling)
products, while UK-firmBridgend
Extrusion gained an award for its plastic
K-form formwork.
