The video from thismonth’s interviewwith Volvo
Construction Equipment CEOMartinWeissburg is

I
nanewvideoon thewww.khl.comVideoZone toaccompany thismonth’s
interview, VolvoConstructionEquipment CEOMartinWeissburg talks
about the company’s strategy on acquisitions, rental, branding and
manufacturing alongwith a viewon global equipmentmarkets.
Some of the key issues covered include Volvo’s decision to buy Terex’s
rigid and articulated hauler business earlier this year, the development of its
Chinese joint venture, SDLG, the company’s approach to equipment rental
and the expansion of its manufacturing footprint into emerging economies
around theworld.
AsMrWeissburg saidon thispoint, “It is important toVolvoConstruction
Equipment thatwe be local andwe be close toour customers.Tobe good in
China, you have to be Chinese – the same for India, Brazil, andRussia. It’s
important tous from a sourcing standpoint, and availability standpoint and
local content, to be very close to our customers for speed of delivery and to
have that global spread.”
“Iwouldn’t say the footprint is complete, but it is very good. Our industrial
footprint isalwaysgoing throughevolutionandchangesas themarketschange
–not justwithbusiness cycles, but aswewant to increase local content.
“So evenwithin a country, our footprintmight change as we increase local
content and purchasing of components. But I would say our coverage today
from an industrial standpoint iswherewewant it tobe.”
