OCTOBER 2013
Manufacturer of radio remote
controls, Ikusi, has launched
the IK2, IK3 and IK4 from
the i-Kontrol series. Each
model has an electrically
erasable programmable
read-only memory (EEPROM)
card, a wider thin-film
transistor (TFT) screen, a
strap, buttons on the sides, a
cable connection option and
an anti-condensation system,
a company spokesperson
said. The range incorporates
TR400-800CE multiband radio.
Also new from Ikusi are
the MP20 and MP08 receivers.
The receivers are compatible
with all transmitters in the
range. The display is capable
of showing analogue and
digital inputs and outputs. The
receivers can also be used to
diagnose errors. In addition,
the SIM EEPROM module can
be removed from the outside
for easy maintenance, a
company spokesperson added.

Hyundai Heavy Industries has launched an online monitoring system
for construction equipment. The Hi-Mate system provides details
on usage, fuel consumption and handling performance. It uses GPS
monitoring for machine location and is fitted with a theft protection
system. Data can be accessed by HHI operators via the website
and the system can be also accessed by fleet managers to contact
the operator. The system can be used on Hyundai Heavy Industries
construction machines with an operating weight of 14 tonnes or more.

New Bosch Rexroth technologies
Bosch Rexroth launched
several new products at this
year’s SPE Offshore Europe
exhibition and conference in
Aberdeen, UK.
On show for the offshore
industry was a fully operational
active heave compensation
system, which can allow users
to achieve energy savings of
up to 75 %, the manufacturer
said. Also on display was a
new hydraulic cylinder with
Enduroq surface technology,
which protects hydraulic
cylinders from damage caused
by environmental conditions.
Finally, a working Hägglunds
CB motor, a smaller and lighter
unit with a high torque-to-
weight ratio, was also on show.

New control systems for Arcomet
Arcomet, an international
construction crane rental and
manufacturing company based
in Belgium, has added a new
crane control system to its fleet
of rapid assembly cranes.
The systems, including
the Unidrive SP and
Commander SK drives, have
been developed by Control
Techniques. The systems can
be used for improving a crane’s
operation, including quiet
start up, precise positioning
of loads, sway dampening,
smoother movements
and controlled lifting and
alignment functions.
The systems, which have
been fitted to the T33, A33,
A40 and A45 Eco City crane
models, consist of three
electric motors and three
drives. In total a lifting motor
controlled by a 15 kW
Unidrive SP, an aligning
motor controlled by a 7.5 kW
Unidrive SP and a turning
motor controlled by a 4 kW
SKC Commander, have each
been fitted to the cranes, a
company spokesperson said.
Raf Smeets, a senior
engineer at Arcomet, said,
“With our new concept we
are market leaders. The
increased functionality is
highly appreciated by building
contractors.”
