moment will increase in order to allow
more compact point loads and larger
combinations. Technical capacity has
increased during the last generations
from 36 tonnes (Generation 1 and 2) to
40 tonnes (Generation 3) to 48 tonnes
(Generation 4 with foam filled tyres) per
axle but most of the operations allow not
more than 40 tonnes per axle line load due
to limitation on ground pressure.”
Traction is another area that is seeing
development. The AMPC 3 series from
Faymonville reflects this need for more
axles, as Rainer Noe, product manager for
the modular vehicles division, points out,
“The 3 in the name stands for the third
generation and for three driven axles.
Decisive for this step was the market’s
demand for greater traction than was
possible earlier with the two-axle model.
Now traction of 22.5 tonnes is available,
which not only puts us at the head of the
class, but surpasses the products available
from other suppliers by 20 per cent.”
