CONEXPO REVIEW
whichupuntil nowhas beenNorthAmerica’s
tallest production scissor lift.
TheMEC6092RT comes equippedwith a
24-foot Ultra-Deck platformwithdual slide
decks, a turbo chargeddiesel Kubota engine,
MEC’s exclusiveQuad-Trax full time4wd,
oscillating axle, automatic levelling outriggers
and engine slide outmodule.
“The justificationbehind the6092RT is to
address the highly pricedEuropean competitive
model,” says JimTolleMECdirector of
internationalmarkets. “We have recognized a
large gap in the large deck European scissor
lift product range versus the large deckNorth
Americanproduct range. For our NorthAmerican
customers, the6092RT takes the operator
to a6 story level that upuntil nowhas been
deemed a boom lift categorywith small compact
platforms.”
OIL&STEEL
introduced two new crawler
mountedplatforms into theNorthAmerican
market at ConExpo, and said it will launch a
69-foot truckmount in the comingmonths.
The trackedOctopus 1800Evo and2300
Evo have60 feet and75 feet workingheights
respectively, and join the existing1400Evo
currently in themarket. They are aimed at the
risingniche area of trackedplatforms in the
U.S., which themanufacturer believeswill grow
100percent over the next year. The pair has
beenANSI certified.
The69-foot Scorpian69non-insulated
truckmount is part of a joint venturewith a
Wisconsin-based engineering company andwill
be aimed at allmarkets outside Europe. It will be
supplied on a7-tonGVW chassis and ismade
of high strength steel with an electronic control
system. The plan is to offer a reducedweight
machine that will be an alternative tomore
expensive andheavy insulatedmodels produced
in theU.S.. It will be followedby a100-foot
version onup to a10-ton truck.
SKYJACK
debuted a new electrically powered
rough terrain scissor lift at ConExpo. TheSJ6832
RTE is the “most compactmachine on the
market that is capable of lifting1,000pounds
to32 feet,” saysBarryGreenaway, product
manager for theSJ5832RTE. “It is also the only
machine in its categorywith four-wheel drive
and45percent gradeability as standarddesign.”
The zero-emission scissor lift was built on the
same chassis as the existingdiesel anddual fuel
68RTunits.
“This decision allows those already familiar
with the highly popular traditionally-powered
68RT lifts to experience a seamless transition to
theRTE,” saysBradBoehler, Skyjack president.
The dual fuel units currently only have40
percent gradeability,making the new electric
scissor surpass its sibilings’ performance by
5percent. It is the first Skyjack product to be
completely ACpowered.
Almost all non-power-plant relatedparts are
commonwith the internal combustion6832RTs.
Foam-fillednon-marking tires, near-zero noise
levels, zero emissions and the tightest turning
radius in its classmake the transition from
outdoor to indoor jobs easier than ever, Skyjack
says.
TheSJ6832RTE is designedwith relay driven
controls. TheRTE is also equippedwith optional
auto-leveling outriggers to allow elevating on
unevengrades and canbe fittedwith a range-
extending external generator to recharge the
batteries in the field.
The range-extendinggasoline poweredgenset
option adds versatility to theSJ6832RTE,
allowing it to be reliably used at green field
construction siteswithnoACpower, orwhen
multiple shifts do not allow sufficient downtime
to complete a standard charging cycle. The
generator can either bemanually controlled from
the platform or set to come on automatically
Niftylift’s JonHedlund told
ALH
the company
is quite busy in South America, specifically
in Columbia and Peru.
Ruthmann’s T 175A lift, left, was one of the larger truck-mounted units at the show.
Skyjack’s new SJ6382RTE scissorwas
debuted at the show.
Teupen used ConExpo to debut its new
TL63A articulating boom lift.
