we host here,” adds Van Zandt.
When the weather changes, Van
Zandt anticipates he will continue
to find uses for the boom lift. During
summer months, the club operates a
campground. In the past, when storms
passed through the area and broke
branches from treetops, the club closed
the impacted campsite and hired a tree
crawler to remove debris.
“When that happened, we were at the
mercy of the company that owned the
crawler and had to wait until they
could fit us into their schedule,” Van
Zandt explains. “Now, with the
boom lift, we can
immediately address
the problem and get
things back to normal on our own timetable.”
The lift also includes an accessory mounting
tray that accommodates a generator, air
compressor or pressure washer. That could
come in handy if the club goes through with
plans to purchase a tent for summer weddings,
providing the ability to pressure wash the tent
before taking it down and packing it away. “And

summer,” said Van
Zandt.
One year after
purchasing the T500J, Ski Valley Snow Club
continues to feel good about the decision to
buy it, Van Zandt says. The machine is able to
provide a stable work area just about anywhere
on the property year ‘round. The reach makes
it possible to accomplish a variety of tasks,
and according to Van Zandt, the lift is easy
to operate, relying on detachable platform
controls that provide faster and more efficient
boom positioning with one-hand operation of
all boom functions.
But perhaps most importantly to Van
Zandt, the tow-behind boom lift is easy to
transport. “No longer are we
hampered by snow,” he
explains. “We’re able to take
it just about anywhere
by attaching it to a skid
steer and perform a
variety of jobs with it – everything from
changing lights and servicing chairs, to
painting, removing snow, doing arborist work,
and power washing. That’s what makes it great,
and that’s why we keep finding new tasks for
it.”
As the market picks up, there might be new
units on the horizon for OEMs, but, for now, all
remains quiet.
