Holland Lift will launch a 33mworking height full
electric scissor in 2015. The HL-330will have a
1.2m x 6.4mwide platform, and a length of 6.4
m. The unit will have a transport size of 6.6m x
1.4m. It will also have a 2m basket extension, a
capacity of 600 kg andweigh 24 tonnes. Power
will come from a 804 Ah (80 v). The company
already as a fully electricmachine, but it is 3m
wide. There have already been a few sales from
the basic specification, saidHolland Lift.
It will follow the company’smost recent launch,
the 27mworking height M-250HYL254WD/P/N
at APEX. It is Holland Lift’s first hybridmachine.
It has a 1000 kg capacity and can drive at full
height andweighs 25 tonnes.
ELSMakine started in 2010with electric scissors and now has a range from 6-14m, its latest model being
the 7.6mworking height EL8-S, launched at APEX 104. It has a deck extension of 0.88m and overall width
of 0.76m, following customer requests for narrowmachines to fit through standard doorways.
“Our first plan is to start mass production of
diesel scissors at the end of this year. At the
beginning of 2015wewill launch our rough terrain
scissormodelswith 18mworking height. After that
diesel boomswill come.”
The company uses US and Turkey-manufactured
deep cycle or traction batteries. “Batterieswhich
require lessmaintenance and hasmore charge and
discharge cycle have begun to be produced. We
hope it will be better in the future.”
On the theme of Turkey, Mr adds, “Therewas a
habit of using push around scissors. In time it has
changed and five years ago companies started to
use electric scissors. Nowadays rental companies
have 70% electric scissors in their fleets. It will
grow in the future.”
In Turkey, “It is easy to offer them an electric
scissor than offering a diesel scissor because of
the budget. It means that rental companies’ electric
scissor fleets are growing.”

equipment, possibly combustionAWPs. As
thatmarketmatures, the job sites will evolve,
so electric scissorsmay grow innumber within
rental fleets,”commentsMr Raymo.
However, given thematurity and size of
theNorthAmericanmarket and its relative
impact on global trends,Mr Raymo estimates
the percentage has been largely flat since 2009.
Themain limitation of electric scissors
is often perceived to be a lack of charge
capabilities.Genie says its scissors are
designedwith battery capacity to provide
a full day of work in typical applications
without requiring recharge.Mr Powell adds,
“One area of research is improving the
efficiencies of drive systems to reduce power
consumption and extend operational run
times. Genie is alsoworking closelywith
our battery and battery charger suppliers to
incorporate advances in technology and design
improvements.”
Mr Raymo echoes this perceived limitation,
but says JLG prides itself on the duty cycles
provided by its products. “Hybrid technology
is definitely growing in popularity because
of its versatility. Inmany cases it provides
the operator with the ability towork indoors
on battery-only power or outdoors with an
