ofNorthAmerica’s biggest
scaffolding companies. In the
2014 editionmost of them
reported slight growth, reports

.
This year the Scaffold20 shows

The bignewswithin the top

purchase ofwhatwas the number
three place-holder,Harsco
Infrastructure.For those familiar
with theUnitedRentals/RSC
acquisition a few years back–
whichpropelledUnited even
further aheadof all competitors –
this is of similar scope.
The new, combined company
will operate under thenameBrand
Energy& Infrastructure Services
andwill be a single-source
provider ofmulti-craft industrial
services, forming and shoring and
total access solutions to the global
energy and infrastructure sectors.
Harsco received cashproceeds
of approximately $300million
from the transaction and an
approximate 29% equity interest
in the joint venture.
Inotherwords,BrandEnergy
& Infrastructure Services is now
the largest scaffolder inNorth
America.
With that, the topfive
companies on the S20 represent a
total of $3.25billion; nearly 90%
of the total scaffoldmarket that
ALH
has data on.The biggest
number to jumpout,however, is
PCI ScaffoldConcepts’ (number
sevenonour list) substantial
increase in scaffold revenue.
The company saw a 128.5
percent increase in revenues,
jumping from last year’s $21
million to$48million.Mike
Thompson,manager at PCI
ScaffoldConcepts, says the
growthwas due to adding and
purchasing additional locations
and larger projects.
Overall,with the construction
markets –both residential and
commercial – climbingbackup,
next year’s S20 should reflect
further growth as the industry
rebounds.

NewProvidenceWharf,
including unique and fabricated

systems.
Set to impress with its
dynamic design and desirable
location on theThames, the
development will consist of
mixed-use residential and
retail units, including a luxury
180-roomhotel and a 45-storey
residential tower.The tower’s
radical architecture, inside and
out, includes an in-step structure
whichwill accommodate
balconies and utilise space.
The project will complete in
December 2015.
RC frame contractor
J.Reddington (JRL) is building
the in-situ frame supplied by
Peri.Senior sales engineer at Peri,
JackLusby, says, “To support the
foundations of the tower and
Height restrictions
progress the construction of the
45 floors, a number of systems
and supporting equipment has
been used and adapted to address
the issue of restrictedworking
space and provide efficiency
throughout the project.”
To help form the core of the
tower and progress construction
Peri’sTrio panel formworkwas
used in conjunctionwith the
RCS-C climbing system.
“JRL specified that the
Skydeck systemwas to be used
where possible to eradicate the
issue of working at height by
erecting the system from below,
with theRCS-CClimbing
ProtectionPanel applied to create
enclosures and ensure the safety
of personnel working around the
tower perimeter of the building,”
addsMr Lusby.
“CBC 240 andCBC 160
platforms have also been used to
give access on the external face of
all perimeter shear walls.”
