PAF’sMEWPs forManagers
training course is available in
English, German, French, Italian,
Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese.
It covers what managers need
to know about usingMEWPs on
site, from planning the job and
completing a risk assessment,
to selecting the right equipment
andmitigating all possible risks.
The course is targeted at projectmanagers, foremen and
supervisorsworking in a broad range of industries such
as construction, facilitiesmanagement, retail, airports and
arboriculture.

The one-day course formanagers includes topics such as
health and safety regulations, accident prevention and control,
personal protection equipment, and pre-use checks and
maintenance. The course is about planning, supervising and
effectivelymanaging the use of powered access, and not about
operating equipment. It endswith awritten test that candidates
must pass in order to obtain a certificate.

IPAF fulfilled all requirements of the
ISO 18878 training standard and no non-
conformitieswere found. The auditswere
performed in early September at the IPAF
head office in the UK.
The audit reports highlighted positive
aspects such as IPAF’s new updated and
streamlinedMEWP TrainingManual; its
proposed digital auditing systemwith
robust action tracking and reduction
in resource consumption; satisfaction
surveys; accident reporting online;
and comprehensive training centre
monitoring.
TÜV also confirmed that IPAF
continues to complywith the ISO 9001
qualitymanagement standard. No non-
conformitieswere found.
The ISO 9001 audit covered the
provision of support, assistance and
general guidance to IPAFmembers and
the powered access industry as awhole,
and themanagement and administration
of the IPAF training programmes for
mobile elevatingwork platforms and
mast climbingwork platforms.
The audit reports highlighted IPAF’s
commitment topursue continuous quality
system improvement: “The organisation
maintains documented and effective
procedures governing the handling of
information, data analyses, improvement
actions and responses to customer
feedback. The company receives very
low levels of complaints…Management
reviews the qualitymanagement system
at regular intervals and in linewith the
requirements to ensure its continuous
suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.”
