“Iwent towork formy fatherwho
owned several truckingcompanies
in theMidwest, includingEckMiller
Transportation,”he said. “I started in
dispatchand spent time in settlements
beforemoving tomanage theheavyhaul
department.”
He spent timemeetingcustomers,
speaking to statepermit offices and
learning the capabilitiesof owner/
operators and trailers.
“Itwas averyuniquepart of theplatform
industryback then,”he remembered.
Folladori latermovedon to regional sales
and senior sales andmarketingpositions
withinEckMiller.
“I spent 16years in theOwensboro-
Rockport areabeforeacceptingaposition
withLandstarRanger in Jacksonville, FL,”
he said.
Thatwas almost 23years agowhen
he startedout asdirectorof operations.
Within theyear, hewaspromoted to
vicepresident of operations, responsible
formultipledepartments related to that
carrier’soperations.
“Ihavebeenblessed tohavehad
wonderful co-workers andexperienced
staff that have taughtmemoreandmore
eachday,”he said.
In2001, Landstar consolidated its
operatingentities and set up two
operatingcenters– inRockford, ILand
Jacksonville, FL.

“I assumed the responsibilityof
managingandmaintainingour fleet of
over10,000 trailers,”he said “In2006 Iwas
asked to takeover theHeavySpecialized
Servicesdepartment andhaveheld that
positionover the lastnineyears.”
In this role, hisbasic responsibility is to
overseeall issues surrounding specialized
haulingand the strategicplan for
operations,marketingandadministrative
functions as they relate to specialized
hauling.
In thenineyearshehasworked in the
heavyhaul division, hehasbeenactive
in theSC&RA.Hecurrently serves as
chairmanof theSpecializedTransportation
Symposium,whichwill beheldMarch
3-6 inAtlanta,GA.Wecaught upwith
Folladori to talkabout theSymposiumand
all things transportation.
WHATARE THEBIGGEST ISSUES FACING
THE SPECIALIZED TRANSPORTATIONSECTOR
TODAY?
The issues are the samenomatterwhat
sector.When speaking toother carriers,
