psychometricprotocols,
theAmericanNational
Standards Institute (ANSI)
has grantedNCCCO
continued accreditation
for itsmore than20
crane and crane-
relatedpersonnel
certifications.
Additionally, the
scopeofNCCCO’s
accreditationhas been
extended to include theCCOLiftDirector
andCCOServiceTruckCraneOperator
certificationprograms (see story, left).
ANSI’s audit ofNCCCOoccurs annually
as a requirement of its accreditation to
ISO17024,with anon-site inspectionby
ANSI auditors everyother year. Although
NCCCO’s current accreditation runs
through2017,ANSI requires specific
databe submittedon an annual basis, and
grants continued accreditationonly if all
requirements aremet.
NCCCO alsopickedup another highly-
prized commendation fromANSI – its
seventh since itwas first accredited in
2007– this time for its development of
videos for useby candidates prior to
takingCCOpractical examinations.
“NCCCO is tobe commended for
developingveryhighqualityvideo
tutorials on itswebsite for theMobile
Crane andServiceTruckCranepractical
examinations,”ANSI’s assessors stated.
“These videos providedetailed
descriptions and illustrations
of the requirements and
candidate experienceduring
these activities, andvery likely
increase the readiness and
comfort of individuals taking
the examinations.”

part ofNCCCO’s
mission since its
inception20years ago
hadbeen to establish
national testing
programs that are fair to all candidates
while at the same time arebothvalid
and reliable assessments of essential
knowledge and skills. “ANSI’s continued

programs is clear testimony that this goal
is being achieved,”he said.

programs. ANSI’s decision came after
thorough analysis of test data and rigorous
audits of NCCCO’smanagement systems
and psychometric procedures, aswell as
detailed scrutiny of its test development
and administrative processes, saidNCCCO
Director of Operations and Program
Development, Joel Oliva.
“Thismeans that these two programs,
like others that NCCCO offers, are now
accredited by ANSI to the ISO/IEC17024
International Standard for organizations
that certify personnel,” Oliva said.

rigorous accreditations available,” said
