The IPAFNetworking Event will
be held onMarch 25, 2015, the
day before the IPAF Summit and
International Awards for Powered
Access (IAPAs), at theNational
Press Club inWashington, DC.
TheNational Press Club has
beenWashington’s home for
news, business and social events
in the nation’s capital formore
than a century, hostingmany
key events featuring leading
personalities inmedia, business,
politics, sports and entertainment.
Right in the heart of downtown
between theWhite House,
WashingtonMonument and
Capitol Hill, with easy access to
themetro, parking and hotels,
theNational Press Clubwill
provide a unique historic setting
tomeet business associates in the
powered access industry.
The IPAFNetworking Event will
run from 7:00 to 9:00pm. The
venue is a short distance away
from the Crystal GatewayMarriott
Hotel, the host hotel for the IPAF
Summit and IAPAs. Transport to
and from theNational Press Club
will be provided for attendees.
Attendees should indicate at the
time of booking if theywill be
attending the networking event
and if they require transport.
There is no cost to attend, and
the networking event is open
to all IPAFmembers and to
people holding a ticket for the
IAPA Awards Dinner. However,
places for this popular event are
limited to around 250, so be sure
to register early in order to be
admitted.

Cards (Powered Access Licences)
will have a chance towin free
trips toWashington, DC for the
IPAF Summit and International

prize draw celebrating the one
millionth PAL Card ever issued.
The draw closes at the end
of January andwinnerswill be
announced in early February. All

IPAFwill demonstrate how its
machine-readable Smart PAL
Card (Powered Access Licensed-
Registration), issued after
successful aerial lift operator
training, can be usedwith card
readers on AWPs, at booth 8129
at the ARARental Show.
The Smart PAL Card, which
won a LLEAP award 2014 for
its innovative use of smartcard
technology to help improve site
safety, can be used together
with card readers fitted on
machineswhichmay be set to
ensure that only correctly trained
operators use equipment on site.
The Smart PAL Card features a
wireless icon, a data chip, and
has the same data printed on it,
which allows it to still be used as
a standard card. PAL Cards can
be verified online at

Many of IPAF’s approved
instructorsmet January 21 in
Chicago as part of their annual
requirement for 15 hours of
ongoing professional development.
In addition to the annual update
to the training program and
coursematerial, each instructor
participated in aDale Carnegie
course specifically tailored for
the group. The course focused on
strengthening the facilitation skills
of instructors and their ability to
engage their trainees.
