JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2015
AFI helped UK football club Exeter City FC replace
all of its 48 floodlightswithout interruption to its
match programme.
A 21.30mworking height Niftylift SD210 boom
and a 11.8mworking height Skyjack SJ4632
scissor were used for the job.
Clive Pring, Exeter City FC’
s estatemanager,
said, “
We used the scissor lift to access lights
directly underneath the roofs of the stands and
we positioned the boom lift on the pitch to reach
lights above the roof areas.
I had some initial concerns about putting the
boom lift on the pitch but because it had special
tyres designed for working on sensitive areas
such as grass, and outriggers to spread the load,
you can hardly seewhere it’
s been.”
In other AFI news, it has presented Cancer
Research UKwith a cheque for UK£
5000 to
provide laboratory clothing and research.

Norwegian equipment rental companyFlexleie
has received the firstMEC3392RT-T
(Tunnel) scissor lift throughPerfectLift Sales,
MEC’s distributor inNorway.
The 3392RT-T is a purposely designed
machinewithunique features to suit the
requirements of tunneling andmining
applications.
Significant travellingdistances is one of the
challenges in such applications.The 11.88m
workingheight 3392RT-T can travel at a
maximum stowed speedof 10km/h, compared
to the usual 6km/hof similar products, said
themanufacturer.
There is also a requirement for operation
on slopes significantly greater than standard
models allow, saidMEC.Therefore, the
3392RT-Thas beendesigned toworkon
extreme inclineswhile elevated,without the
need for outriggers, in correlation toplatform
height.
The platform is 7.55m long fully extended
and1.9mwide. It has a lift capacity of 1200kg
and canoperate at up to10° fore and aft and
8° side-to-side, and is offered as a four-wheel
drive diesel.
According toMEC,Flexleie has ordered
‘many’more units.Flexleie rentalmanager,

MEC launches
tunnel andmining
platform
OleHeie said,“TheMEC3392RT-T tunnel
machinewill prove tobe a great success for us.
It is the onlyAWP in the industry designed
specifically for tunnel applications.Having the
capability for faster travel elevated and stowed,
aswell as the ability toworkwhile elevated
on extreme angles, andhaving a very high lift
capacity,makes this a sought outmachine.”
