All three cranemodels in thenew
NBT15 series feature a60-foot, three-
sectionboom.A22-foot, single section
jib is also available. TheNBT14offers
a14-ton capacity; theNBT15provides
a15-ton capacity; and theNBT16has a
16-ton capacity.
“Thesenewboom trucks remain
ideal for getting into tight spots on the
jobsite and can easilyhopon andoff of
thehighwaywithout special permitting
– in some cases, a commercial driver’s
license (CDL) isnot even required for the
NBT14,”Olivas said. “TheNBT15 series
has the longest boom in its class – and
flexibility in lifting capabilitieswith their
strong capacities andvariableoutrigger
positions.”
Going global
Manitex International, Inc. also
showcasedoneof itsmost popular boom
trucks atConExpo, theTC700,which, at a
lifting capacityof 70 tons, is the company’s
most technologically-advanced and largest
crane todate, the company said.
TheTC700was launched about nine
months ago anddeliveries began in late
2013. Themachinewas builtwithglobal
markets inmind; it isCE compliant
anddesigned tobe fitted to trucks
manufactured around theglobewith12
or 24volt electrical systems. It also can
complywithEN13000 regulations.
TheTC700has a70-ton capacitiy at an
8-foot radius, 115-footmaximumboom
length, 180-footmaximum tipheight and
15,000pounds baredrum linepull rating.
The truck cranewasdesigned
tobeusedon commercial
carriers, allowingoperators
quick travel to andbetween
job sites.Onceon the job, the
TC700’sROC-rock solid radio
outrigger controls, swingout
outriggerdesign, on-board
outriggerpads and remote
winch control option combine
togreatly speed setup time
by a singleoperator, the
company said.
Lastly in theboom truck
arena atConExpo,Altecunveiled anew
crane cabdesign that tilts 20degrees and
offersdual entrances for operators. The
cab comes standardon theAC45-127S
boom truck and is optional for anumber
of otherAltec cranemodels.
Thenew front-entry cabdesignwas
made to reduce slip and fall hazards
associatedwith side entrancesused
with ladders.According toAltec, a front
entrance is the safestway to access the
crane controlswhen the crane is in the
stowedposition, orwhen the crane is
positioned180degrees from the stowed
position. Thenew additionof the side
entryprovides convenient access/
egresswhen the crane is positioned
perpendicular to the carrier, providing
access to the controls from anyposition
throughout the crane’s rangeof rotation.
Altec unveiled a brand new tilting cab for
boom trucks at ConExpo.
The 70-ton capacityManitex TC700,
introduced in 2013, has been a strong
seller, especially in energymarkets.
