Red Rooster, a manufacturer
of air hoists, powered winches
and manual winches, has
opened a new depot in
Krakow, Poland.
The new centre will help
increase services in Central
and Eastern European
countries, a company
spokesperson said. It will
eventually offer most products
and services available
within the UK and Norway, a
company spokesperson added.
Red Rooster is a UK
distributor of Kito products,
including electric chain hoists,
manual chain hoists, lever
hoists, trolleys and beam
clamps. It also offers 20, 30
and 40 tonne capacity hand
chain hoists from a fleet of
rental equipment.

Eilon engineering, a specialist
in industrial single point lifting
and stage safety line multi
point lifting, has launched a
new load monitoring system.
The Ron StageMaster
system has a real-time load
map that allows the user to
see overloads during a lift.
It has four load cells and
additional ones can be added,
the manufacturer added.
The system has a
transmission range up 1 km
and a battery life of up to
4,000 hours. It is a wireless
system that is compatible with
tablet and smart phones.
The system works on a
range of frequencies and can
work with any controller to
provide automatic E-stop and
overload or under-load alarm,
the manufacturer added.

in the
USA has launched a
lightweight manually
operated ratchet
lever hoist called the
CM Bandit. The
manufacturer said it
is its lightest and most
compact unit and the
world’s first HMI-certified
ratchet lever hoist.
The Bandit has a 360
degree rotating handle, double
reduction gearing and an
enclosed Weston style brake.
Latches are fitted to the upper
and lower hooks.
It is available in 0.75 and 1.5
tonne capacities, with 3 and 6
tonne units in development. As
standard it has chain lengths
giving 5, 10, 15 and 20 foot
(1.5 to 6 metre) lift heights.
The chain is zinc plated (gold
chromate plating in the USA).

Konecranes offers advanced
rope diagnostics
Two new services, RailQ
Runway Survey and RopeQ
Wire Rope Inspection, are
available from Konecranes.
They offer recommendations
on the overall lifetimes of
industrial crane runways
and ropes.
The first service, RailQ,
uses an alignment survey to
measure straightness, elevation,
rail-to-rail elevation, and the
span of the rails, a company
spokesperson explained.
The system uses a remote-
controlled robot trolley to
collect data, for example,
misalignments, via Bluetooth.
RopeQ Wire Rope
Inspection is a visual and
non-destructive (NDT) rope
inspection for evaluating the
overall lifetime of a wire rope.
Data provided during the
inspection includes current
condition of the ropes and
inner and outer surface
measurements. It also helps
identify any internal broken
wires, the company said.

industries. An internal load
limiter is available as an option
on the Bandit.
CM’s Bandit has been
available for customers in
Canada since 10 September
2013 and available to US
customers since 17 October. It
is HMI certified and is designed
to meet the American Society
of Mechanical Engineers ASME
B30.21 Manually Operated
Hoist Standard.

Magnetek, a supplier of digital power and motion control systems, has launched an
anti-shock feature to its Impulse VG+ Series 4 crane controls.
The technology works by automatically stabilising loads by detecting and
minimising rapid increases in motor torque, the manufacturer said. The feature
helps protect the crane and building from excessive stress.
Jason Wellnitz, Magnetek controls product manager, explains, “After stabilising
the load, the hoist automatically reaccelerates to the speed the operator had
initially selected. At no point, however, does it take control away from the operator.”
The anti-shock feature will be standard on all new Impulse VG+
Series 4 drives.
