McLeod recovers crane in NZ
Crane rental company
McLeod, based in New
Zealand, used three Grove
all terrain cranes to salvage
a collapsed boom on a
ship crane.
The 16 US ton (14 tonne)
boom collapsed while the
ship was docked in the Port
of Tauranga, New Zealand. To
carry out the difficult lift a
170 tonne capacity GMK5170,
a 130 tonne GMK5130 and a
75 tonne GMK4075 were used.
Challenges during the lift

Scott McLeod, McLeod
Cranes managing director,
said, “We brought three cranes
to be sure we could carefully
extract the boom without
causing any further damage
to the ship. We used lifting
eyes on the boom to carefully
manoeuvre it clear. It was slow
and cautious work, but we
were as efficient as possible.”

NEW TADANO FOR CARPIN AUTOGRU
Crane rental company Carpin Autogru in Veneto, Italy, has taken
delivery of a Tadano ATF 70G-4 all terrain.
The 70 tonne capacity ATF 70G-4 has a 44 metre five section
telescopic boom and a 16 m double-folding boom extension.
The crane has two Mercedes engines and can travel with full
counterweight and equipment within the legal axle load limit of 12
tonnes, the manufacturer said.
Carpin Autogru purchased the four axle ATF 70G-4 for work in
the earthquake-hit area of Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy. It was
handed over to Leonardo Carpin and Vittorino Carpin, at the GIS Fair in
Piacenza held from 26 to 28 September 2013.
The crane joins several other Tadano models in Carpin’s fleet,
including an ATF 30-2, ATF 50-3 and ATF 80-4.
