Kobleco’s return to Intermatwill see it
launchanewversionof its 5.5 tonne excavator
whichnow features the company’s INDR low
noise cooling system. Inmoregeneral terms,
Intermatwill see the company launch its
‘Generation10’ excavators inEurope,which
havebeenupdated from theprevious series
withStage IV-compliant engines.Kobelco
says it has reducedoperating costs for these
machines compared to theGeneration9
modelswith improved fuel efficiency. For
example, the21 tonne class
SK210LC-10 is said to
offer 6.7%more
production
inheavy
modeat
the same fuel consumption levels as its
Generation9 equivalent.Kobelcoadded that
fuel consumption is reduced inNormal and
Ecomodes.
The companyhas also looked to improve
serviceability,with easy-to-replace canister-
typehydraulicoil return filters andanew
specificationair cleaner inner element.New
operator accessiblediagnosticson the in-cab
monitorhavealsobeenadded, ashaveaudible
warnings for issues suchashighhydraulicoil
temperatures and cloggedoil filters.
Kobelco’s Intermat standwill also feature
an interestingvariant on the standard
SK210LC-10. TheSK210Dhasbeen
designed specifically for the task
of dismantlingold cars. Thekey
elementsof this areamulti-
purpose rotating crusher
attachment on theboomand
a two-way clamparmon the
front of the carrier,which
holds the car chassis steadyas
it isbeingdismantled.
Komatsuwill introduce the thirdgeneration
of itshybrid excavators at Intermat in the
formof the22.6 tonneHB215LC-2. Since
introducinghybrids in2008,Komatsu says
it has sold2,500 suchmachinesworldwide,
and that average fuel savings come inat 25%
compared toa traditionalmachine.
Thenewhybrid features aStage IIIB
engineandupdatedhybrid technology,
whichKomatsu says translates intobetter
fuel economy, particularlywhenusing the
excavatorwithhydraulic attachments.
Inadifferent technologyarea,Komatsu
will use the show to introduce itsnew
PC210LCi-10 intelligentmachine control
excavator,which isdesigned to improve
efficiencybypreventing theoperator from
digging toodeepordamaging the target
surface.
Operatingweights range from22.6 to23.5
tonnes, dependingon the configuration, and
other specifications are identical to those for
the standardPC210LC-10.
More traditional newmodelson showwill
include theStage IV-compliant 24 tonne class
PC240LC-11 tracked excavator,which the
company saysoffers 6%better fuel efficiency
than thepreviousmodel.AllKomatsuStage
IVmachines comewithKomatsuCARE, a
complimentarymaintenanceprogramme
covering the first threeyearsor 2,000hours
for factory-scheduledmaintenance, performed
byKomatsu-trained technicians andgenuine
parts. It also includes amaximumof two
complimentarydiesel particulate filter (DPF)
changes andawarrantyon theseparts for the
first fiveyearsor 9,000hours. There is also
a fiveyear/9,000hourswarrantyon theSCR
body.
