'Football field' floor size
The job wouldn’t be a small-scale operation.
The interior of the casino is the size of two full-
length football fields and the ceiling is more
than 40 feet tall. In order for crews to get up
underneath the ceiling while the slot machines
still spun, Pini decided “out of sight, out of
mind” would work best. So he started thinking
of how to hang platforms from the ceiling.
“The biggest challenge was setting the
hangars and trusses [under the rafters],” Pini
says. “These are gigantic platforms that span
300 feet, but the ceiling where they had to

hung, huge platform sizes and keeping the
