he 2014 International Awards for Powered
Access (IAPAs), jointly organized by sister
publication
Access International
and the
International Powered Access Federation (IPAF),
are set for April 3, 2014 at the historic Beaumont
Estate hotel in Windsor, near London, UK.
The awards, in conjunction with the annual
IPAF Summit, celebrate best practice and
excellence in the powered access industry, and
are expected to attract more than 450 guests
from around the world.
The awards are now open for submissions, so
don’t miss the opportunity to take part by visiting

This year, there have been a few changes to
the categories in response to suggestions from
the industry. Take a few minutes to read through
the list below and decide which awards best suit
you or your company – you can enter as many of
them as you like.

CONTRIBUTION TO SAFE
WORKING AT HEIGHT
To an individual or company that has made
a significant contribution to safe working at
height, whether through the development of
a product/attachment/device; outstanding
commitment to safety within its/their own
company; or promoting safe working practices
in the industry.
ACCESS RENTAL COMPANY
OF THE YEAR
To a powered access rental company that
stands out through innovation and success.
Financial performance is one aspect of
performance that will be considered, but of
equal relevance are a company’s approach
to safety, training, marketing of access rental
services, new technology, customer service
and other initiatives. All rental companies are
welcome to enter, big or small.
POWERED ACCESS PIONEER
To a manufacturer, dealer or rental company
that has excelled in developing/growing
the use of powered access, whether it be
through expanding the use of powered access
equipment in new geographical regions or into
new sectors of already established markets,
finding new applications and new customers.
PRODUCT OF THE YEAR:
VEHICLE/TRAILER MOUNTED
For a manufacturer that has launched an
innovative vehicle/trailer mounted platform
during 2013.
PRODUCT OF THE YEAR:
SELF-PROPELLED
(BOOMS, SCISSORS,
ATRIUM LIFTS)
For a manufacturer that has launched an
innovative self-propelled platform during 2013.
PRODUCT OF THE YEAR: MAST CLIMBING
WORK PLATFORMS/HOISTS
For a manufacturer that has launched an
innovative mast climbing work platform or
construction hoist platform during 2013.
PRODUCT OF THE YEAR:
LOW-LEVEL ACCESS
For a manufacturer that has launched an
innovative low-level access platform during
2013. This category covers small vertical mast
platforms, low level electric scissors, either self-
propelled or push-around.
OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE
To a manufacturer, dealer, or after sales
service company that has provided outstanding
customer service through after sales initiatives,
improved operations in the field or any other
customer-orientated innovations.
INNOVATIVE USE OF ACCESS EQUIPMENT
THIS REPLACES LAST YEAR’S PROJECT OF
THE YEAR AWARD.
For a rental company and/or contractor
that used powered access equipment in a
particularly interesting/innovative way, or
developed/customised its equipment for a
specific project or purpose. The winning entry
will demonstrate how the user overcame
challenges in the workplace; entries specifically
about new products will not be considered.
Entries will be accepted from rental companies,
contractors, and dealers or manufacturers
submitting material on behalf of an end user.

LIFETIME
ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
To an individual who has made significant and
lasting contributions to the powered access
industry, and/or someone who has played a key
role in the industry during the course of a career
or over many years.
ACCESS PHOTOGRAPH OF THE YEAR
The access photography competition is
sponsored by the UK’s Facelift Hire, which will
donate the
€
1,000 prize.
Judges will be looking for a spectacular shot
that promotes access equipment and/or
highlights an important aspect of safety.
