Properties’ latestmajestic creation, Brickell
CityCentre. The$1.05billionmixed-use
development includes anumberof high-
risebuildings skirting theMiamiRiver,
just off the coast.
This 9.1-acre city-within-a-cityproject
includes 5.4million square feet of office,
residential, hotel, retail and entertainment
space, givinganewmeaning tourban
living. It is estimated that theprojectwill
have a$1billionoverall economic impact
to the city, creating3,700direct jobs and
2,500 indirect jobs after construction is
complete. Equallyas important for the
construction industry, the3.5-yearproject
– spanning from July2012 to the endof
2015–will add1,700 construction jobson
average eachyear.
TheAmericaribe/Moriarty JointVenture
is taskedas thegeneral contractor tobring
SwireProperties vision to reality. For
planning the intricate lifting requirements
and for constructing the shopping center,
twooffice space towers, two condominium
towers, hotels andapartments, the
company calledon the experience and
expertiseofferedbyBridgeville, PA.-based
MaximCraneWorks.
Constructionof the structureswithin
the confinedCityCentre’s space isnot
easy, and the lifting equipment involved
requires careful planningbyMaxim
Crane.

Final lift plans require11 tower cranes for
theproject, all of themTerex. The strategy
employedamixofTerexhammerhead, flat
topand luffing jibdesigns to safelyhandle
all of the liftingneeds atCityCentre.
