AWRF Fall General Meeting,
PIE convenes in St. Louis
CraneRental Corporation
recently recovered a
customer’sManitowoc 4600
dragline that had slippedoff a
bankbelow70 feet ofwater at
maximum radius off the shore.
Noonewas injuredduring
the accident. CRC supplied
a lift director, skilled riggers,
certified crane operators
Crane Rental performs

and cranes toperform the
coordinated tandem lift. The
machinewas recoveredwith a
500-ton capacityManitowoc
2250 crawler cranewith
MAX-ER attachment and a
600-ton capacityTerexAC
500-2hydraulic truck crane.
The total weight liftedwas
about 484,000pounds.
CraneRental’s teamprepared
pre-lift plans and submitted
them to theMining Safety
andHealthAdministration
(MSHA) for approval before
beginning the job. CRChas
performednearly adozen
recoveries after similar
accidents.
During the job, professional
divers surveyed themachine.
Engineers had to assess and
predict the components’
stored energybeforedivers
could cut the boom,mast
andheavy-dutywire rope
underwater to ensure the
diverswouldnot be struck
as components shifted.
Underwater cameras and
communicationswere
essential as thedivers’
exposureneeded tobe limited
at that depth. Theprojectwas
completed safelywith zero
recordable incidents.
ALL Erection &Crane
Rental Corp. added108 new
Manac specialty trailers to its
fleet. The order includes 100
step-deck trailers, including
5045-foot unitswith close
tandemwheels, which are
ideal for accompanying the
company’s taxi crane fleet to
jobsites. Another 50 of the
Manac trailerswere designed
with 48-foot spread axle units.

DICA opens
new facility
DICAOutrigger Pads held a
ribbon cutting ceremony and
open house to celebrate its
move a year ago to a new
headquarters,manufacturing,
and distribution facility in
GuthrieCenter, IA. The
event was attended bymore
than 100members of the
community, local chamber
of commerce, customers,
friends and family.
With the expansion to
a larger facility, DICA has
invested inmanufacturing
and fabrication equipment,
enabling it tomove into full-
scale in-housemanufacturing
for its Safety TechOutrigger
Pad andRV Jack Pad product
lines. Since 2013, DICA
has nearly doubled is staff,
including the addition of a
second shift to accommodate
production and distribution
demand of its products. The
company is positioned for
continued growthwith its
13,500-square-foot facility
designed to allow for additional
manufacturing and distribution
expansion.
