A
total of eight awards are up for grabs this
year across International Construction’s
Project of the year Awards and the
International Construction Equipment Forum
(ICEF) awards. Both build on the inaugural
prizes at ICEF 2013, but they have now been
expanded to include more categories and better
reflect the diversity of the industry.
There are now two categories for construction
schemes - the International ConstructionProject
of the Year category for contracts valued at US$
100 million or more, and the International
Construction Award for Innovative Smaller
Schemes for those of less thanUS$ 100million.
The inaugural prize in 2013 was won by
Brookfield Multiplex for its work on the
construction of the JWMarriott Marquis Hotel
inDubai.The hotel is a twin tower complex that,
at 355mhigh, broke theGuinnessWorldRecord
for theWorld’s tallest dedicatedhotel.
Companies can submit entries for any number
of categories using separate forms. However,
companiesmay only enter once in each category.
The shortlist in both award categories will be
announced inSeptember and thewinning entries
will be announced in November. The winners
will be decided by an independent judging panel
nominatedby
iC
and input to the judgingprocess
will include a poll of
iC’s
readers.
In choosing the winning entries, judges will
particularly look for examples of client &
customer satisfaction along with a commitment
to safety, efficiency, professionalism and
innovation in each entry. As part of this, entries
shouldbe accompaniedby a statement of support
from the client.
Equipment awards
Meanwhile, this year’s ICEF event, whichwill be
held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands from 2 – 3
November, will see awards given in six categories
related to the construction equipment industry.

ICEF PRODUCT OF THE YEAR (ABOVE 10
TONNES)
. For a newmachineweighing
10 tonnes ormore that offers innovation
in safety, efficiency, productivity or
sustainability.
ICEF PRODUCT OF THE YEAR (BELOW 10
TONNES)
. For a newmachineweighing
less than 10 tonnes that offers innovation
in safety, efficiency, productivity or
sustainability.
ICEF COMPONENT OF THE YEAR
. For a
component ormachine sub-system that
delivers safety, efficiency, productivity or
sustainability to the finishedmachine.
ICEFDEALEROF THE YEAR
. Recognising
a company that has delivered excellence in
customer care, after sales support and
service.
ICEF FLEETMANAGEROF THE YEAR
.
Recognising an individual whohas excelled
in their role as amanager of a fleet of
constructionmachines.
ICEF LIFETIME CONTRIBUTION TO THE
CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT INDUSTRY
.
Recognising an individual whohasmade a
significant contribution to the construction
equipment industry over the course of their
career.
In 2013 Liebherr won the inaugural ICEF
Construction Equipment Design Innovation
Award for its PowerBoom capacity enhancement
system. PowerBoom increases load capacity of
large Liebherr lattice boom crawler cranes while
being economical andflexible to use.
Again, a shortlist for each category will be
announced in September, and the winners of the
ICEFawards, theprizewinnerswillbeannounced
during the ICEFGala Dinner in Amsterdam on
November 2.
How to enter
The closing date for entries is June 30, 2015.
Products eligible for the ICEF awards must have
been launched in the 18 month period from
January 2014 to the closing date. Schemes for
the Project of the Year awards must have been
completed in the same period.
